From the picture its difficult to see the true actual color of your home. I like the dramatic look of a dark contrast for the shutters, door and deck and would consider an espresso, black or chocolate brown. The house currently doesn't have any real color definition, even the deck has started to fade, so consider color, be bold. I would reconsider a blue door, though, unless you add additional color to the deck and shutters or else I'm afraid it would stick out like a sore thumb.

I am surprised no one is in here to tell you to remove the shutters yet, at least the ones over the big windows. I'd probably lose all of them though as I think it looks odd to have them only on certain windows in front and not others.

I am not a fan of those style garage doors, but I think you should paint them to either blend with your house (which honestly, would make everything REALLY snoozy), or get a gel stain to give them more of a wood look (without the $$$ of actual wood garage doors). The white does not work with anything else on house.

You do need contrast, everything is the same beige-ish tone.. A rich blue door might work; I will let one of those with photoshop skills do some mock ups! I think a wood-look front door would blend too much into the siding. If you keep the smaller shutters, then I would be inclined to go DARK for contrast. Not black, but like a deep gray.

I will also leave landscaping ideas to those who are much better at it :)

Try using Sherwin Williams ColorSnap to see how various combinations work. I am not very good at this, but it always helps to visualize. I used SW Manor House for the front porch, shutters, and garage doors, then used Regatta for the front door. I think a deeper blue would look even better, but I think the house looks nice in these colors.

Paint your house white!

Then the big garage doors blend in, and the house appears as one solid shape. You can paint your shutters a deep gray blue for a little “freshness” and paint front door black.

You can decide what to stain the stairs later.

Thanks for the suggestions, everyone. Side note, we are not 100% committed to the color white for the garage doors but our house will have to remain this warm tan for now. GJ and Rai, I like the idea of black or a dark and warm charcoal gray (color I am considering below) for the shutters and deck. Do you think the deck should be all one color or contrasting railings and bottom?

I’m not a fan of the color of the garage doors & I think they would look better if the mullions were removed , that’s what I did with mine ; assuming they are removable, mine were.

I would get garage doors that blend into the siding color. Paint the shutters a chocolate brown (I dislike the gray with the tan siding). I would powerwash & clear coat the deck & stairs I would not stain them as that will add constant upkeep. BM Varsity Blues, Van Courtland Blue, or Van Deusen Blue are possibilities for the door. Then fix the landscaping. Look up Dig's Doug on this site you does great plans for posters

I think your deck and railings should be the same color to avoid a zebra effect. There is so much talk about curb appeal because its important, but curb appeal is more than just the house - what do you think would look best from the street taking into account your landscaping, etc.?

No to the white garage doors. Double no to the A-frame roof over the front door. I agree you should embrace the linear lines of your house. The tan color is actually quite attractive here. I think you could punch it up with a deep charcoal gray,

So, the one consistent opinion is that white garage doors are a hard no. These are the options From our seller. Thoughts on one of the wood grain colors (real wood is not in our budget)? Probably either medium or walnut finish? We are not planning to keep the tan forever, thus I am not wanting to match the siding.

There is now a paint to make metal garage doors look wood. You might consider that.

I was hoping grover would appear; the last picture is great and that garage and deck colour will look great in future if you change siding with several different colour options. Yay to removing the shutters!

Everyone has an opinion on the garage doors - because it’s the biggest impact factor of the exterior. You can’t make any decision on the exterior without deciding what statement those doors are making.

Maybe they blend in.
Or Maybe they pop like big preppy carriage house doors.

L Harrison, please notice I relandscaped a bit in my rendering. That scraggly tree thing in front needs to go. Keep your plants below the level of the windows and the floor of the deck.
