Replacing modern bar pulls - what to replace them with?

My 12 year old kitchen cabinets and drawers are loaded with modern, brushed nickel bar pulls of varying lengths. My base cabinet drawers have pulls that are 33" long! I'm sick of this look and want to replace them with hardware that is more transitional. Is there a good design solution for this predicament? I've been searching for an answer for a couple of years now!

Not sure this constitutes a "predicament". What sort of "answer" are you searching for? You couldn't find pulls that you like, after two years of looking????

So the predicament is that if I remove a 33" long bar pull on a drawer, what do i replace it with? There are literally no other style options for a 33" long pull - other than modern. So it is a terrible idea to replace it with 2 smaller pulls? I don't want to drill an additional 2 holes in my drawers and have an even worse look.

    Pictures of the drawers please.

You will need to have 2 knobs on each drwaer and they are awkwrd to use for opening drawers and I love the pulls you have they are simple function well and since transitional is a mix of traditional and modern they work well.

Wondering why do you want to replace them - they look great.

I would definitely NOT use 2 smaller pulls as I think single pulls look best. Definitely no knobs on them. If you go with smaller pulls, then you'll need to fill the other holes and match with a color to cover, but you'll be unlikely to make it undetectable.

Are there any pulls available in the same length but a different material / color / design you might prefer? Otherwise you may be left with a shorter pull, meaning 2 new holes for that and filler for the 2 existing holes.

I don’t really like that look either, so I appreciate your desire for something new. You’re probably more limited by the holes in your upper cabinets than those in the base cabinets.

whats going on with the uppers? Bar pulls in vertical or horizontal position?

Why not find out if they’re brass underneath, and ell made. If they are, you can have the chrome removed and then just put them back, for an “on trend” look.

i used 8” long pulls on my long drawers and they open smoothly. You pulls look fine.

Buy six plain $2 knobs. Put them on and try them out for a month. If you hate the way the drawers pull out when you use the knobs, put the modern pulls back on.

Thanks to all for taking the time to share you opinions and thoughts - every one of them was much appreciated! I think I will be leaving them alone :)
