Thank you, Rita! The caramel is only in that one area & I can't find anything like it in photos online to get a visual of what it might look like with my cabinets so I'm worried it might not be enough caramel to tie them together?

I love that stone...Yes, it will be lovely with your beautiful cabinets. But I am curious do you have an island or will this be chopped up to go on perimeter counters? Make sure you know where your seams are going to go.

What are the red marks along that visual line that makes an L? Ask about this because it may be marked as a problem area in the stone.

The caramel spot is a bonus. I love the stone even without it. It looks great with your lovely wooden door.

Your cabinet wood is lovely. On my screen, that granite looks too cool in tone to work well with your cabinetry.

Thank you for responding Boxerpal. No island, very very unconventional layout but it works for us. I hesitate to post it but if there are any problems with that granite on the perimeter better to know now. Probably going to be a seam around that corner somewhere. Still in a mess from our "dust free" (not!) tile removal

There are a few "short apron" apron front sinks that can be installed on a standard sink sink base cabinet. I have the "short apron" Kohler Whitehaven. (It comes in a "tall apron" style too for those with a farm sink cabinet.)

The Kohler Vault comes in a stainless short apron style and Elkay makes one in quartz.

My quartz counters look different in different lighting. I think your stone may also. Mine can look a little cool at times but it works with my cabinets. There is cream in mine as well as hints of beige which keeps it warm enough to work with the wood.

It is best to view slabs in sunlight.

That looks like Colonial White, Cotton White, or River White (White Ice) granite. I'm not saying it is one of those, just that's it's similar (there are over 700 white granites, and a lot of them look very similar to one another)

River White has those garnet dots/spots and colonial white has black dots.

those larger 'smooth spots' appear to be quartz or a type of mineral deposit. I wouldn't exactly call this granite 'exotic' or a level 7. I think the stone yard is pulling your chain to get more money. Is country of origin India or Brazil?

I too am worried about it being more gray/cool than cream against the cabinets esp after it's installed and too late. I held up a white subway tile very close in color to the yes jhmarie Kohler whitehaven short apron sink and it looked stark against the granite. I don't know if that's a bad thing or not? I wonder too if I'm not being easily swayed by the darn sexy feel of that leathering lol, it's so awesome! I did post some pics of floor samples idecor that I'd like opinions on whether there is enough contrast between them and the cabinets?

Paynerobin, First off I like your current kitchen counter. Simply Beautiful.. I understand wanting a change, but if it were me, I would keep those gorgeous black counters. Now, the reason I asked about the granite going on perimeter cabinets is that you want to be sure the seams are matched properly. Because of all the movement in your stone you may have to consider getting an extra slab to make those seams gorgeous. The last thing you want on those perimeters is something like this...

You can barely see it, but my seam is bookmatched. It is invisible. I love it. I had to buy an extra slab to assure that I could do this. My kitchen is still undergoing renovations.

The seam is matched so nicely you can barely see it. The pattern on this granite in my past house flows to create softness. NOt choppy at all. I didn't want chopped up pieces.

Nicole R Dsp originally I had thought of going with just a simple cream/off white counter top like the color of my Rae Dunn canisters on the coffee bar because I didn't want any granite that looked remotely tuscany but I haven't found anything. An out of state friend of mine had white kashmir leathered installed and granted it was installed on white cabinets but it was drop dead gorgeous and had streaks of caramel, rust & black on an white/off white background that I thought would be perfect. So, for two months now I've been making the rounds to the local yards and this is the only piece that comes close. So with my kitchen being essentially three separate areas of granite- the section of caramel is only going to land on one of them, do I run the risk of looking like I have 3 unmatched pieces of granite??? I'm open for suggestions and advice.

Boxerpal, the uba tuba has to be replaced as we lowered a raised dishwasher & added an angled cabinet. Our high calcium well water even though we have filtration systems in place has ruined our granite and tile in our kitchen and bathroom (verde butterfly) so I thought a lighter color and the leathering would hide that problem better. I would be sick if my granite had seams that looked unmatched. The stone yard girl said I could sign off on the final template but honestly I just nodded my head NEVER dreaming that that could be the end result. Thank you for sharing those photos!

I just want to add that there are no yards in our local area that actually do the leathering so she also told me that all the straight edges and the edges around the sink would be satin/shiny not leathered but that I wouldn't notice. I've researched this to find if this is the norm but haven't found an answer.

This was another piece I considered but don't love it. It's not leathered and I have strong reservations about being married to that caramel rust streak.

Don't get the one that you don't love, don't even waste 1 more minute on it. You will regret settling...keep looking if you aren't sure about your selection. I think that the store you posted is beautiful.

Pay,,,,leathered/honed finishes do cost more. but that slab of granite, off the truck, shouldn't be more than 1500 or so? again, I'm going off what the stone yards around here (and there are a hundred of them) in so cal offer. if you're in a more remote area, and pickings are slim, then of course they will get more money for it. leathered finish, fabrication, install, + granite price, i'd estimate 4.5-5.5 installed. At least around here that's what it would be. give or take.

If you're in that ballpark, then you're good. get what you like! it's a nice slab. just make sure you sign off on the template for the cuts so you know where the seams will be. make sure it's in writing that you want to see it.

I think you should keep looking. That stone is pretty, but it doesn't look right in your kitchen, to me anyway. Have you considered getting the granite you have honed/leathered on site? Or getting another honed/leathered black granite? I really think the black top looks striking in your kitchen. If you want to go lighter, have you considered taj mahal quartzite? It has the light cream tones it sounds like you are looking for. White Alaska granite has the mix of light and dark that can pull everything you have together nicely.

Re the flooring, are you sure you want LVT? I don't love putting wood look products next to real wood. I would definitely choose real wood or tile (not wood look tile) for your space. I also like contrast between flooring and cabinetry, so if you are settled on the LVT, I like the middle sample the least.

I think you can do better too. Keep looking until you find something you love.

Paynerobin, I think it is very wise that you are doing research and learning all you can to get the best possible granite for your counters. I am sorry about your hard water. That is a problem where I live too. I can see what you need to have a change with a counter without those hard water stains. And that is great news that you can sign off on the template. That way you know exactly where they will put your seams and you can have some control of how it will look. There are lots of wonderful white granites out there. I am sure you will find the right one if the one above ends up not working out for you. ~boxer

It looks like your cabinets are a darker wood, but we recently had a client keep their wood cabinets and install Colonial White granite (mentioned in an above comment,) and then also installed a slate lookalike LVT. There are still a few more updates they'd like to address (hardware, replace the backsplash, darken the under-cabinet boards), but they ran out of time before tenants had to move in. The owner of the house was torn between this slab and another one which was creamier and had tan veins in it. In the end I believe they would have preferred the latter as it was warmer and would've tied in better with the cabinets. If you have any questions, I have more pictures!

Your Granit is gorgeous, and yes your cabinets go with the granite why are you asking! Ir"s your kitchen what you, who cares what anyone else thinks! IT"S GORGEOUS!
