I've saved this photo for possible next house that would work with that large space and would fit your furnishings. Very large pieces.

The group of pictures is nice, but it is lost on such a large wall. If you have some large paintings, they should go on large walls. The small pictures will work on a smaller wall area. Having them right next to a light switch is also not a good idea. Scale the art according to the size of the wall areas....big on big, small on small.

to start you need a console table way longer, double size. In my opinion a built in would be better. If you want a gallery wall you need to embrace the idea, the ones you are using are not doing the work

I agree a much large TV console would help a lot, even if the TV is not centered on the console, it will ground whatever you put on the left. You should only decorate up to normal room height, usually 8 ft. Above that means you need to crane your neck. I think your family pictures are too small and may suit the stairway wall better. Once you decide and post whether or not you are considering a larger console you will get better ideas for the wall space.

Major large art is needed. While expensive, a Zuber or DeGournay wallpaper mural would look smashing.

I would create a faux fireplace where your TV is w. a ceiling-height over-mantle with a natural-looking stone veneer & a dramatic mantle. Then the space to the left wouldn't be so expansive & you could continue adding to your current photo group as you go. You have a lovely home!

Beautiful art is the way to go. Start with the painting your already have once you move your family photos. Then start to look around for art work in subjects, styles, and colors you like. Don't be afraid to go big. I don't think decorative grill work and such will have nearly the impact as a bold piece of art.

Perhaps a large entertainment center and a little artwork above it like as in this photo.

What a lovely home! If it was my home, I would: 1. Untie the curtains so they hang straight. 2. Move the sofa to the window. 3. Move the chairs to either face the sofa OR in an L formation opposite the sofa on the side closest to the kitchen (place a round table between them) 4. Move the tv cabinet a little to the left and add high cabinets on either side that match the tv unit so it appears as 1 larger unit. 5. Replace the hanging “boob” light with something larger and lower it considerably. 6. Move the beautiful family photos to a smaller wall in the house but place them a little closer together.

No, you don't need to frame original art. Many artists "wrap around" their painting to the sides. Many original paintings aren't framed. Over time, as you settle into your new home, think about going local art fairs, open studios, local gallery openings and shows to support artists from you area. It takes awhile to figure out what subjects and styles you're drawn to. For now, online sources may work for you and give you immediate satisfaction for that space. Beautiful art is one of the most enhancing things you can add to your home, but it takes awhile to develop your personal taste. I forgot to say, your choices of furnishings and wall color are wonderful.

So absolutely none of your seating faces the TV.

I think your seating arrangement is not correct for the room. You have not posted all the walls, but living rooms that have a staircase wall often use that wall for the TV. That way there will be less wall to cover and the TV will be more appropriately sized.

Your chandelier is too small and mounted too high in the room IMO

Beverly, thank you. The stairway doesn't have enough room, but I wish that idea would work. I don't like the idea of a big tv in LR but husband does. The chairs are swivel so the helps. The couch doesn't fit on window wall without being forward quite a bit. The leather furniture is RH and was a big investment for us that fit our last house well. It doesn't fit that great here but can't imagine getting rid of it bc of $$$$. Excuse messy picture, I've been sick and piled up on couch.

You need a bigger piece of art. The small pictures only chop up the space.

Visual proportions in a tall ceiling place is a challenge. Need height & grand scale to compliment the space.

1 way is to add molding or wainscoting
