looking for backsplash suggestion

Looking for suggestions on backsplash. We have alabaster cabinets. Perimeter counters will be a pewter from hanstone and the island is going to be a cambria skara brae. Appliances and fixtures will be nickel. Just can’t decide what to do on the backsplash. Thank you

I would find a square or large rectangular tile to match the perimeter countertop. Let the island be the star.

Back painted glass in a silvery color?

We definitely agree with Sina. Choose a white subway tile.

Updated photo. Just need handles and countertops.

Here’s an updated photo with countertops. Ignore the bright island lights. I switched those out for soft white after the picture was taken. Thanks all for your help!

White subway tile. Anything else will distract from the beautiful island. Find a white that matches the color of the cabinets closely.

It is very beautiful. Agree with above...simple, or it will become too busy

It’s beautiful! Definitely a white glossy subway, maybe beveled?

i am going against the consensus and saying you can inject some color in the kitchen with the b/s. everything doesn't have to be white or gray.... bring home lots of different samples and see if something strikes you. it doesn't have to be bold and in your face, but a subtle color, would be nice, imo

check out Fireclay tile at least for some color ideas. gray and white are neutrals so really almost anything goes!!

agree: inject something. You do not have a busy island. In fact, it is quite understated. I would put a clean looking herringbone, or chevron across your entire backsplash. Your choice : gloss or plain glazing...your choice: shade of white or multi tonal or slightly grayed white...... your choice: contrasting or matching grout or SLIGHT contrast to grout. With just the one small window, yet good undercabinet lighting, custom hood, you run the risk of TOO plain if you don't inject some detail. Chevron or herringbone would be my goal but select the piece carefully....it would be a beautiful classic look if you find one you like. I know: it's a lot of work....keep going....you're almost there.

Thank you all. I think we’re going to go with a beveled edge subway tile and a herringbone design behind stove. The color is a blend of the island color and the white.

    Thank you again!

Hi can you please post a pic after the backsplash is in place. We switched from Brittanica to Skarabrae and am literally breaking my head abt the backsplash :)

I think color would fine, that doesn't go against being simple in my mind. I think by simple, people meant the SHAPE and the layout of the tile. You have two different cabinet colors, two different stones. As of now it is not busy IMO, but i think doing an ornate tile would definitely make the kitchen start leaning towards busy

Contractor is working on backsplash now. Will post picture when completed. We really like it though!

Just looked at the picture of the island! Looks beautiful! Am so glad we moved to Skara Brae from Brittanica. I love Brittanica but love SB a wee bit more :)

Very happy with it so far. Still finishing grout and missing an under cabinet light.

Beautiful! Can I ask you what the name and color is for the subway tile you chose. Also what color grout you used. I am having the same dilemma for backsplash and my kitchen looks almost identical. I submitted a question on this website but have not had any suggestions yet. Thanks I am going to attach a picture.

I think the lightest or darkest color in the island for the back splash, so they relate to each other....and look designed.

Can you tell me what paint color you used in the kitchen. I’m have a very hard time deciding if it should be a gray or beige. ( with the Skara Brae )
