OMG I almost cried. I thought I have to tell the Dad in case they go thru airport metal detectors, & even if the pins are closed, the 1st time Dad will likely worry for his baby boy.

A week later I was at my LQS for replacement rotary blades & ran into one of the shop owners. She's a long time quilter, fellow alum of Textile School.

We looked at it together & she suggested several spots where she thought I could open a seam to get the pins w/ minimal damage.

So that gave me courage & determination, I HAD to take them out! I came home & ending up picking out 1 seam 2" long, & was able to grab out the 2 safety pins (I'd used to center the sandwich layers).

I am sooo relieved, I was afraid I'd have to cut it. This is a small seam I can hand stitch back up & even go over w/ machine. Am so glad I thought to ask Andrea, Hooorayyyy.

Better to find pins than a great big Florida cockroach. Yes. It's true. When I found it I freaked out so bad I had to get DH to remove it I was so skeezed.

I think I have posted before that I baste my quilts with water soluble thread(superior Vanish). I don't like to stop to take pins out of my sandwich when I am quilting, so the soluble thread is perfect for me. I have safety pins, but never warmed up to using them.

I once sewed right over/on a pin. Messed up the timing & had to put my baby in the repair shop. Once was enough - now I also baste with soluble thread.
