Entry Design Dilemma Hall

Runner placement — advice needed

Hey all. I am trying to decide whether it would look better to do one long runner down the hall beginning at the front door or to leave a small mat inside the door and start the runner at the stairs. As you can see the door is off center from the hallway so I wasn’t sure what might look best. Please share your thoughts!

I would say no to a runner. I don't think you need it. You may want to get a slightly larger mat for your front door

Sorry I should have mentioned I have to get one because I have an older dog who is extremely arthritic and keeps slipping on the floor :/

I can certainly see why you’re conflicted. I think I’d do a small rug at the door and a separate runner.

If for no other reason, you’re going to have foot traffic at the door. Providing a rug to wipe feet on that can be washed/replace as necessary is easier and more economical than washing/replacing a runner.
