I am sorry but, I have had a very difficult time posting today. The vanity is an antique with a Newport Brass faucet and hammered copper sink. The toilet is white. The sconces are antique and are brass. The ceiling fixture is vintage with glass crystals. The mirror is antique with gilt and there will be a beveled mirror. The floors are Minwax provincial stained red oak. I am attaching more photos.

I love chinoiserie but can't afford the real thing.

Thanks Beverly! I do have other frames I could use but I am concerned about the sconces having enough room on either side of a mirror. Is there a rule of thumb for a vanity mirror for proportion?

I love the chinoiserie wallpaper but it is too busy with that vanity. You can fairly inexpensively replace the white toilet with one in a cream or bone color. Perhaps a lightly textured wallpaper in a muted pale gold, or a gold and cream quietly striped wallpaper will work.

Wall paper for this room will make it dramatic which is a great idea for a powder room. Prefer the darker paper over the beige one. It has more visual impact. Good luck

Wow! I do like the mirror you added! It does show drama! I could even take a gilt class and make the frame pop! Where do you buy a beveled frame like that?

I lean towards making powder rooms as dramatic as possible so I would go with a wallpaper.

I have been looking for Chinoiserie wall coverings for my bathrooms. The quote I got from De Gournay was ridiculous - $8000 for a few panels - not the whole room :-(

I have contacted this seller on etsy who has gotten good reviews. I am not sure how it would price out but definitely more reasonable than De Gournay - the DeGournay papers are gorgeous though.

Definitely not grass wallpaper in a bathroom. You could not clean it.

I would go with paint. A semi gloss or high gloss with make a big statement & be amazing as long as your drywall is in good shape.

I don't think the brass candle sconce works with the more interesting finishes of your lav and faucet. Too yellow and i don't think exposed bulbs cast good lighting next to your face in powder rooms.

Schumacher Wallpapers

I like schumacher wall paper a lot! The sconces look a lot like visual comfort. I have a lot of them in this house but not that modern look.....very nice!

Consider sconces that are natural brass. No need to spend Visual Comfort money for these sconces.

I am trying to troll ebay for a mirror since I love to save money. If you have any links or find something please let me know. The vanity is 40" wide and there is 62" from the vanity top to the bottom of the crown molding.

I have found fantastic deals on Ebay and even more often on Craigslist.

I believe the mirrors I posted are all from Wayfair. No tax and free shipping. You won't get that on Ebay.

I made a newspaper 20x38" to see how the size will work if I get this mirror. My carpenter thinks any mirror should be a bit higher than the faucet - due to water splashing and keeping all clean. What do you think so far?

I do have the 2 sconces and only 1 arm ones will fit with no more than a 5" back plate.

I agree that the mirror should be placed a bit higher. In the picture the bottom of the newspaper fights with the top of the faucet. I would want a bit more space between them at the bottom.

Your faucet looks very similar to the one I just installed in my bathrooms for my current remodel but mine is a widespread with three holes :-)

Another option is to stencil your walls. That's what I did in my bathroom. If you're handy with a paintbrush, you could certainly add highlights and shadowing to lend an air of sophistication to the design.

I think powder rooms are a great place to make a statement. Bold color or design in wallpaper or paint. I like the direction you are going and think anything you choose will look great.

Check out wallpaper at Thibaut_1886 on instagram. Don’t use grasscloth, won’t be able to wipe it down if needed. Try something dramatic with black and gold. Have fun with it, make sure to size the walls first incase you want to change it later on!

Because the sink is already so busy, the marble will just get lost with the wallpaper. I recommend going for a painted wall and wallpaper the ceiling.

either way could work: something very baroque and bold, right in your face wall paper (if the room is small enough) or something very tame and neutral but fine (aka expensive looking) plain DYI paint would not work.

I’d go big with this! I’d look at your vanity top as being an "earth" accent, in that the various browns resemble, well, dirt. But dirt grows plants, so any wallpaper that is nature themed would work. As it’s a powder room, dark and dramatic is elegant. I love the dark wallpaper and think it works fine with the vanity.

I do like the dark wallpaper and a simple mirror and simple sconces since you’ll want a lot of light

GO FOR THE DARK DRAMATIC Wall paper ! It will look stunning ! Guest bathrooms should be a conversation piece location ! Go bold !

It’s one thing to have a “dark bathroom” but I think having a dark pattern by another dark pattern would clash. They should contrast eachother. So light wallpaper or paint by the dark patterned counter top, or a simple dark paint. But a dark patterned wallpaper might look tacky.

I love the dark dramatic look in a powder room. That’s the only room where ‘sky’s the limit’. Enjoy!!!

What about doing Venetian plaster instead of wallpaper?
