Riva floors or other Select Engineered wood?

Hi,
We are looking for engineered wood for our 3000sq ft home. We like select wood (less characters/knots) and keep the price under 8$ per sq ft.
We found sample of Riva floor at local store and like the look. But I am confused abt its wear layer. As the attached photo, the label says 4mm wear layer but the website says 3mm wear layer.
Please see attached pictures and let me know what you think.
Is it possible to get select grade engineered wood under 8$ in San Jose CA with at least 3mm wear layer? I am looking for 3mm because internet says that’s what is needed to be classified as at least “ok” quality.
Has anyone installed this floor? If so can you pls share pictures?
Thank you.

What area do you live in? We love the color Crystal, formerly “Crystal Thunder”. It’s been our #1 selling floor for a few years.

It pairs well with almost any environment and or color way one could decorate with; think how versatile Blue Jeans can be!

We currently have 22k sqft in stock!

Like everything, Aesthetically it depends on your homes directive; round is more classic & square is more for modernity.

Any updates or photos of Riva Crystal

FYI- I’ve learned that Riva Select has microbevel edge, not square. How would you describe the color Crystal? I feel like I am seeing a pinkish tone which I dont want. thanks!

Good morning! The pinkish tone you mention is probably a photo effect. The color has no pink undertone. If you wish please send us your address at info@rivafloors.com and we'd be happy to contact you with your nearest dealer or send you an a&d or sample. Thank you.

We bought Riva Max engineered floors in Smoke and in Character grade but now I see on their website that Smoke is a warmer tone which worries me--I was looking for a natural tone. We have not installed them yet. On the Riva website Smoke looks darker and warmer than the sample I saw at the store. I'm also hoping that Riva's character grade is not too busy.

@Andrea De Toledo I did not think the website colors were accurate so you should order 1 or 2 sample boxes to get a good feel for the color and character. Crystal color is a natural tone but fairly light. I'm not sure about smoke color. The character is fairly heavy but most of it blends well since the knots are muted and color filled. A small portion of the character are spots you might try to hide. Here are a few pictures different light with character Crystal.

I see. Thanks jysoccer. I've already bough smoke based on the large samples I saw at the store. Unfortunatelly character samples they showed me were much more subtle.

How would you compare crystal and mercury? Seems like mercury is a little lighter and has the micro bevel?

    Good afternoon @sharyl g

The main difference between Crystal and Mercury is that Mercury has a cerused effect (white wash) applied on the grain. Both colors are very similar in color but you are correct, Mercury is a bit lighter in tone but both are beautiful naturals. The micro bevel you mention refers to the profiling on the edges of the planks. If you need further assistance, please send us an email at info@rivafloors.com Thank you!

    Thank you!

Does anyone have mercury blast character installed? And can they post a picture?

@Andrea De Toledo, have you installed the smoke? We are at the same point and are unsure if the sample will be what we are looking for? Looked at the Crystal installed and it was too light for us.

Also. Does Crystal have a micro bevel?

Hi. Still looking for flooring. Got some samples of mercury and Crystal. The mercury is lighter than it appeared here. And more yellow tone in it. Do either of them have a yellow tone? I’m looking for a very neutral tone. Almost more grey tone than yellow. I like rustic. And not dark.

Hi @sharyl g Mercury and Crystal are the most neutral tones in our collection. You are correct, Mercury is a bit lighter than Crystal but both colors are true neutrals. We can send you a sample of cotton that might be exactly what you are looking for. Please send us an email to info@rivafloors.com to process the order or visit www.rivaspain.com to request your sample. Thank you.

    Thank you. Isn’t cotton discontinued?

Pearl is white with a slight gray tone. Here's one in Pearl Select that we cut into a chevron pattern.

Hello @sharyl g yes, Cotton is a neutral color. You can request your samples at www.rivaspain.com or send us an email to info@rivafloors.com

Hi again! So I now have a sample of the Cotton. It looks like a natural - darker than mercury (which in my sample looked lighter and more yellowish than the web picture) and lighter than crystal, but similar in tone. Would you say that is correct? I’m nervous because online it groups cotton with the cool tone woods and mercury/crystal with the natural woods. I’m looking for a semi light natural with no yellow undertone.

Hi @sharyl g Yes that is correct, cotton is a natural color with a very lightly applied coat of our pearl color (greyish). The pearl coat is so subtle that the color is borderline cool/natural which produces an amazing tonality. Honestly you can't go wrong with any of those, they are our best sellers. Thank you.

Thank you. Do you have pictures of the cotton installed?

I would avoid the character grade of this company all together. The way they fill up the knots in an otherwise beautiful plank is not esthetically pleasing at least in the smoke color. Their customer service is not meant to be for the end consumer so if something goes wrong is between you and the retailer.

Good morning @HU-38570487. Thank you for considering RIVA for your project. We do have Pearl available. It is the same high-quality as always and we guarantee 25 years with the proper maintenance. If you would like a sample, please send us an email to info@rivafloors.com with your address and we will be happy to process your order. Once again, thank you for choosing RIVA.

Are there any discounts i should be aware of? what distributors do you have around the 11965 zip code?

Hello, we are looking to install Pearl plank select grade 8''. Does anybody have this installed already for a couple of years? Curious about the maintenance and how the color holds up to wear and tear. Also did anybody install it in the kitchen or a combination of engineered floor/matching tiles. Looking to potentially combine RIva Tile in the kitchen with the engineered for the rest of the apartment for uniform experience. Is the connection and transfer from one to another very visible?

Francisco Mondet (or others), we are ordering Riva Crystal but want eased edge stairs. Riva only has square and round nosing. Have you installed eased edge stairs for Crystal flooring and what have you found that matches best? Are you a flooring contractor and where are you based? Would be very helpful to connect as we want to get our flooring order in quickly but are worried about the stairs. Thanks!

thanks for your prompt response. The thickness is 16 mm or 5/8 inch Vs 3/4 inch from most of other suppliers. Are there any benefits with this thickness or how is the durability compared with others?
