Can you post a picture of the table you have? Because a grey stain table with grey chairs sounds very . . . grey.

This is very close to the table. The floors are medium color wood, the walls are metro gray by BM with white trim on the windows. I know it is a lot of gray but I'm not really into color and I figured I would add color with accessories. The dining room also opens up onto the living room. The only other color chair I considered was white but I was told white chairs will get dirty over time. I do not want black chairs.

The 2nd chair has a more appealing shape. The sled base also makes the chair more comfortable - at least our sled base chairs are comfortable because there is a little give.

Question regarding chairs - does a sled base make a chair look more casual? These are for our formal dining room. For some reason the base looks more like a kitchen chair. Maybe that's just me...

Have you sat in both of them? Can you post a picture of your dining room?

I would keep looking -- they both don't look right with the table. I would opt for fabric, not leather. Good luck!

I know you said you don't want black, but I think the Crate and Barrel Tig chair suits the vibe of your table--especially with the "sheepskin" throw/cushion over it. --Sorry everyone for the early Christmas pic :)
