Any chance you ordered two bookcases, one for each side of the fireplace? Or would that not work because of the step?

Nice start to the space! How deep is the bookcase? I'm thinking I might prefer it on the stairwell wall if you can push the sofa just a bit toward the windows, but not enough to crowd new drapes. I'd like to see a matched pair of credenzas flanking the FP for balance. I actually wouldn't mind using additional pieces from the Berkeley line. The insert here keeps it from looking so matched to the console. It may be small enough to work around the stair issue. If not, you could use it on the left and put a ficus or fig on the right.

That's why I suggested the piece above. Perhaps a pair of those would work better than the bookcase. I hate to see that wall become lopsided.

I just wanted to follow up and show you all what this room looks like now that we’ve made some progress. We will be moving the large white cabinet that’s to the left of the fireplace to the dining room, and possibly adding matching lower accent tables on either side of the fireplace. In the dry bar area we will be adding a wood shelf above the tile work to match the color of the round table there. The changing table near there will be moved as well, temporarily placed there because of an infant.

Still need artwork for the wall opposite the windows in the family room.

Any other suggestions to make these rooms look OK? Thanks!

Adding prints and textures with rugs and maybe even a house plant or two would really help lighten up the room!

Hi kbrookie! I am loving what you already have in your living room. I enjoy some greenery to give it some life in the room, even like fresh flowers (or faux?) whatever you like may bring life to the space. I see you have a small vase in your dining table. The good thing about adding greenery is that you can always replace it and play around with different sizes or plants. Good luck!

I'd like to see drapes on the window and patio door in the dining room and move the four prints to the wall with the baby changer is or the wall between the living room windows. The room looks good but you still need color...or plants.

Thank you, everyone! Yes we are a sea of navy blue, beige, and gray right now. Sounds like we need some life so I will add some plants - What’s the best placement for these? Someone mentioned next to the couch - do you mean near the end of the couch closest to fireplace? It’s hard to tell in the original picture but the color of the rug is brighter than it appeared in the original picture – see the new picture I’ve attached. to add additional color into the space do you suggest to a brighter color up pillow on the couch or incorporate it in artwork on the wall shown here across from windows?

One more thing related to pop of color. Recently added this runner in our kitchen to add some pizzazz. Does anyone have suggestions on how to pull the color from there into the rest of the space? It’s all open concept. Ignore the mess!

Your living room looks nice but I would add some pictures on the walls, especially on the right side. Custom framing will be helpful to make your pictures look more appealing and match your interior.

Pick your favorite family pictures and adjust the frames' size and color. This way you will save the best memory of your loved ones and will add more decorations to your home.
