Thoughts on the console table? What can I do to make it better?

Thank you! :)

The table has very clean lines and I like what you have done with baskets underneath and the items you've selected to put on top of the table. However, it is a bit small for the space but you can easily rectify that by putting an accent chair on either side. also, the frames behind the table are hung too high. i can't see the entire wall so i don't know that it looks like, but you can add more frames or lower the ones you already have. A round mirror would also look amazing over the table. I would also decorate the top of the table in asymmetric way, meaning, put the flower vase slight in front of and off to the side of the picture frame.

To me, a non-pro, the baskets seem disproportionately large to the table.

so I have it all wrong lol! I like the idea of putting accent chair next to it. As of now we can't replace the table.. so shorter baskets? They hold shoes :)

The wall just has the frames on it , pictures of my kids so I don't really want to post the whole photo...

If the main purpose of the console is to hold shoes and serve as the doggie dining table, don't worry about decorating it. If this is your main entry, then you need to tackle the issues. Move the dog bowls to the kitchen or laundry room. The items hanging on the wall above the table should be grouped to be no wider than 75% of the console's width. Lower the grouping so the bottom frame is 5" above the console, which should probably be another 2' wider than it is. Overall, you may have a better place for this piece. Have you considered a storage bench here for shoes and using the console behind a sofa?

You could put Post-it notes over the faces and then take the picture.

I clearly see the table Is too small for the space and the photos are to wide... Updated photo

Excuse the sun... I think I like the lamp better and the dark basket instead of the lighter one?

Yes, the lamp looks better. What about this idea? I mention it because even though you use the baskets to store shoes, there isn't enough room for all of the boots and shoes.

The taller lamp is better. I think darker rectangular baskets that fit the shelves would look better. I would eliminate the two outside pictures in your gallery and center the larger picture over the table hung so the center of the picture is about 58" from the floor and then arrange the other 4 around it. Eliminate the other picture from the table, move the flowers so they sit just forward of and to the right of the lamp, and add a bowl or basket for keys, sunglasses, etc. on the right. Hope this helps!

It's a cute table. I like the other suggestions but the first thing that stuck out to me is the color. On my monitor it appears more of a cream and it looks like your trim is white AND your walls are gray and I think gray goes better with white and off-white and creams go better with beige/browns. I'd paint it white. I'm also saying that based off looking at one view of the room. If you have other things that same color maybe it better relates.

That piece of furniture is too small. Do not hang personal pictures in non personal areas of your home. The lamp and the knick knacks are too small. I wouldn't use a white piece of furniture there, I would use a dark wood. I would get a piece that is wider, and I wouldn't hang anything above it because of the angle of the staircase above it.

At least center the table under the photos.

    A little color wouldn't hurt.

We think the table could be a little longer. You should also center the table, and get a taller lamp if you want a lamp. Here is a console table we did, plus another idea that might aid you with your dilemma.
