Wow, Lois! What a fabulous gift to your friends and family. I hosted a Cookies-n-Cocoa drop-in on Saturday, though I'm pretty sure I didn't have anywhere near 1000 cookies.

We're snowed/iced in since late Saturday night. We only have an 1.5" of snow/ice, but it shuts the whole town down, as we don't have the equipment to clear the roads. Thankfully, we have not lost power. There are still about 45,000 without it today.

Son#1 made it home from college, and has taken up residence in my sewing space. I may grab a smaller machine to put on the kitchen table, and make some flannel pillowcases for some of the kiddies in our community group. Gotta see what I have in the stash. Otherwise, it will be a trip to the fabric store once we thaw out, hopefully tomorrow. Happy Sewing & Quilting!

Lois, I would love to hear your concert. The group I was in did portions of the Messiah a couple of years.

Baking done, six meat pies, two each apple, cherry, pecan, twelve dozen butter tarts, along with at least three different cookies. Nowhere near a thousand though.

And they get given away as well. Two people here don't need all that sweet goodness.

so no sewing, I am trying to get the lights on the tree right now, taking a break.

Wow, I haven't baked a cookie in years! My goal is to stay out of the kitchen whenever possible, though DH & I made lasagne yesterday.

I finally finished the memorial quilt last night! I cannot believe this thing is actually finished. Photos to come. Now I can do something else - just need to decide what.

My clarinet choir has a concert on Sunday night, but that's my only holiday performance this year.

Linda, I'm glad your accident was minor, though it's still a pain having to get stuff fixed and deal with insurance.

Oh Linda, so sorry for the accident, no fun dealing with the aftermath big or small.

1000 cookies....I’m so impressed- well done. Not sure we’ll get any made this year. We had a new wall oven/microwave installed this year and we are still trying to figure out temp control...everything is taking longer to cook.... frustrating!

i must admit that I truly admire those that can sing or play an instrument, I just love music... I couldn’t carry a tune even if I had a tractor trailer attached to me! And an instrutment wasn’t in the cards when I was growing up. How wonderful, enjoy Lois and Donna, wish I could hear you both.

I hope to finish making a few snap bag for gifts and finish up my Christmas quilt. I’ve had the holiday fabric for over five years, ‘bout time i got round to making our holiday quilt!

Wow, I can't believe what some of you bake! I've tried to give up the baking, as I don't need the calories. But I suggested inviting some of our clients at work who are alone for cookies next week, and offered to make them. Not sure how many I'll be making.

I finished another fall table topper, just like the last one I posted, for another white elephant next Sunday. I need to make a table runner for a gift next week, as well.

Seems like every few days we're getting a dusting of snow. Just enough to make it slippery.

I make quite a few cookies every year, mostly to give away. I don't really bake all year but I have 5 recipes that always work well for me and people have come to expect them. I really enjoy giving them to friends and family.

I just remembered a funny story about my cookies. When my kids were little, I used to put the cookies in the freezer to keep them fresh. The little rascals soon figured that out. I’d go to serve them and there’d be hardly any left. (This was before I made so many.) So I started keeping them in the garage. Minnesota Decembers usually stay below 32°, and the garage was unheated. The kids got older, and they figured that out too. My solution? I put them in the trunk of my car. Always frozen, and only I had the key. It worked really well. I just prayed that I never got rear-ended. Now I just put them out in our screen porch. My husband has our freezer so full of meat that there’s no room for cookies. My 55 year old son makes me laugh. When he gets his annual box of cookies from me, he puts them into the freezer. He loves to eat them frozen. He said it reminds him of his boyhood.

I used to work for a man who was originally from Boston. Up there they would put gingerbread man cookies on the Christmas tree, so he and his wife did that the first year they lived in FL. He said they were having dinner one evening and heard strange plopping sounds. They went into the living room and found gingerbread heads on the trees and bodies on the floor - too warm and humid down here, I guess! I'd also be afraid of an invasion of ants and/or roaches with open food on the tree like that.

I am baking some for church - need to finish up about 8 more dozen before Thursday - of course they are decorated sugar cookies.

I just picked up my machine from being serviced/cleaned. It's funny how much you miss it when it isn't sitting in its appropriate place, even if you aren't sewing! I am making an apron for my 2 year old GD for Christmas to go with her new kitchen we are getting her. Got the fabric today and it shouldn't take long. Other than that, I am just trying to get ready to head south until the end of April!
