I have been doing a lot of drywall recently. I cleaned it using a multi-step process. First I used a dusting broom to get the worst off, then I vaccumed my walls and floor, then I used a wet microfiber cloth to get the final dust off, rinsing and changing water as needed.

I have seen posts recommending the use of a tack cloth, and then others that said a tack cloth can leave a residue, so I didn't try that option.

We used a shop vac with a special filter for drywall dust. Then we used a dry microfiber cloth followed by soft rag and water that is changed VERY frequently.

Agree with apple_pie_order here - that dust gets everywhere, so patience (and time) are key

Oh lord, I know drywall dust all too well. I do several passes at it. The first pass is with a shop vac. Then I gently sweep. Then I let all of that settle and then dust with a microfiber rag. Then repeat because it is in the air and it will take a while for it to settle onto a flat surface. I don't try to tackle it with water or anything wet, just keeping working at it dry.
