Your main wall and cabinet colors are cool. Are you interested in changing their colors or just the accessories?

Did you paint over the black walls? I cant really follow from the photos. I think they would look fabulous with your furniture.

I just repainted to the cool grey color and maybe made a mistake with the color choices, if I can work around them and add pops of color i think it would be ideal! I am not against adding a statement wall maybe for the separation wall.

Previous owner was a smoker so I had to oil prime and paint the entire unit to block smell

The space felt heavy and dim before and I tried to brighten it up with the color choice but perhaps when overboard and now it feel slightly washed out

I think simplifying (editing) the pillows on the sofa & adding more colorful art & accessories would warm things up .... with colors you’re drawn to. Almost any color would work with your black, white, & gray... I would add larger pieces & fewer of them, also think about creative storage.

I had a few ideas, One is maybe adding something like this above couch where the center frame is presently? With maybe 5 shelves to utilize wall space?

The other is to add a stick on wallpaper to the side walls (maybe ceiling?) around the front door.

Hi Emma! Congrats on your pretty condo. I wouldn't recommend the shelves pictured above, or patterned wallpaper on the side walls or ceiling...IMO, either of those would just add to a visually busy space (for example, adding the horizontal open shelves would just compound the "busyness" of the table and chairs, which have sharp, open angles, and the shelving unit on the short wall, which has the same). For me, a soothing space is warmer than a busy space. If you are concerned that your space looks cold, I'm afraid that adding more dark objects that create sharp geometric shapes on your walls would just compound that concern. I agree with K Laurence, and think that editing your pillows (perhaps a velvet in your colorways would add softness and warmth) and adding color with artwork (one or two large pieces rather than several small pieces) may do the trick! (Also - you have nice large windows. On my monitor, looks as if the views are of cityscape...if that's accurate, all the more reason to simplify, edit, and make more serene the inside space!) Looks like you have a great space to work with! All the best.

Thanks for info on paint. Try changing your pillow covers and kitchen towels to red or yellow gold. The yellow gold in the pot on the table (like the gold throw on the sofa) would be a good contrast for the gray walls. Replace the purple kitchen rug, too.

I guess what i mean more than wanting it to feel warm is the washed out feeling it has. It needs something added to bring interest...something in the details that i'm trying to figure out. For example a barn wood wall behind the tv? A silve/grey wallpaper around the entrance door to create interest like the one below?

Based on everyone's suggestions, I've been looking at prints and might add a large colorful piece above the sofa on that wall and remove the other two leaf pieces and maybe add white gloss closed shelves or glass door shelves in their place .

IMO you need real drapes and a rug with some color, please don’t tie up the curtains it always looks bad.I would not add shelves in the space anywhere it will make the space feel smaller and add eye clutter to the walls I like your prints add the color with the rug and drapes.

To me warm feeling comes from colors of course but in lieu of many colors-from various natural textures, fabrics that are begging to touch, etc. Some metal finishes also read warmer than others. Also objects that read less utalitarian even though they perform same function, read as more warm, because they have this laid-back feeling as opposed to something that was labeled as such and such.

So no, I wouldn't do big things like barn wood etc that might read less authentic too, to your nice space,

But I'd go for smaller things that can have a great impact without cluttering your space..more wood, warm metal, grass cloth, knitted, wool, handmade ceramics, stuff like that. Different shower curtain-you can still keep to your colors, just choose smth less sleek. A Scandi mug that doesn't look like a toothbrush holder yet can still hold toothbrushes just the same. Maybe a rug that has more texture to it or more color? Like suggested above already. Maybe another light somewhere, something vintage with patina? As long as it's table lamp these are easy to find very cheap.

I can see that you did introduce a bit of wood, and baskets, and other things like that, they just seem a bit lost on the pics, overwhelmed by other stuff. Maybe some of them need to get pared a bit in order to have more effect? It's not a lot of work-you just need to find the right balance between your sleek pared aesthetics, and this bit of wabi-sabi, cozy feel which can come in color, or can come as many different textures too, or both of course.

Some things like art in different medium(oil? coal?pastels?)-they also read very warm even if black and white. I do love your prints, but if you're collecting, and other things speak to you too-look at paintings and drawings.

Plants of course are a great source of adding texture and warmth because they're alive and vibrant and sculptural and different.

Hi very nice! Congrats on your purchase! Looking at your pics you actually have a really good starting point for the style you'd like to create. The neutral pallete allows you options to go either way...Bright and contrasting or monochromatic and neutral. You may have to switch out a couple of the pieces you have the achieve more of the look you'd like but before you consider purchasing anything else look up some articles and pictures on Scandanavian style and how you can acheive it using most of what you have. You can give a nod to the industrial side by adding some touches of dark metals and maybe throwing in a leather accent to make the two styles work without going to literal.

The cluttered look is partially due to the fact that I had to downsize from my rented apartment and am in the process of donating and storing the excess things i have. I really didn't move in very long ago so it's in the works!

I've pretty much decided on some nice curtains which I do think will help. I went with the color of my headboard which is a nice blue color and should add that pop i'm looking for. Going to move the sheer curtains into the kitchen where I don"t need the full coverage. They need to be hemmed which is why they're all tied but that will be done soon! I think having all four panels in the kitchen might add a nice texture to the window wall.

I will stay away from shelves in the main area, the cluttered look is not what I'm going for and keep to using the closet space for storage.

I put the living room rug down with eventual layering in mind, maybe throwing a cowhide down on top to add color and texture.

I have a bunch of ideas and look forward to building the space!
