Hard to step out of the way to lather without getting cold when mounted on a tall ceiling. Water flowing at an angle allows you to decide where you want the water to hit.

rain heads are great for men who wash their hair every day. if you're a female who doesn't, it's a pain in the neck because you'll be wearing a shower cap. AND, rain heads don't rinse the shampoo from your hair very well. (if you have short hair this isn't an issue. I don't ) Plus you'll always have water dripping down your face, in your eyes, unless you step aside to lather.

Rain heads look nice and provide a clean wall above the valve. They do function well with the following exception. When you turn the water off after your shower, water can continue to siphon onto you for a bit. This is remedied by moving the head slightly after you shut off the water (you get the hang if it after a while).

the pressure isn't hard enough for rinsing and they waste water like crazy.

I have a dual wall mount rainshower with hand held and would choose it again. I love my rainshower, but like the option of the stronger stream when washing my hair or need a more invigorating shower.

Just my 2¢...we have a ceiling mounted rain head in our 11 month old home, it is husband's and my favorite thing about the house. I have thick hair past my shoulders and I have no problem rinsing the shampoo out. We also have a adjustable hand held shower head like Beverly's first picture. I can run one at a time or both at the same time. Personally, I would never have a shower without the rain head; I do love the feeling of the water enveloping me. I can move forward slightly to get my face out if I want to. There is not a problem with being cold when I lather up.

I have a rain head and I love it, bear in mind I'm a guy with short hair. My head is mounted in the ceiling and when installing make sure that the supply pipe is well insulated if it is in an unconditioned space.

Why not 2 or 3 with six way control valve to control them how you want? We did a 20 inch straight with 90 degree bar for the rain head, an 8 inch angled bar below that with a shower head angled and a separate hand shower... you can control them either singly or two of them or all three :-)

I've used ceiling-mounted rain heads in hotels, and I hate them. I've used wall-mounted ones when visiting friends, and I hate them.

With ceiling-mounted ones it's a pain to rinse your body, and I shave my head, so it requires me to be able to get out of the spray, which is more difficult with a rain head in the ceiling.

Wall-mounted ones just don't have enough force for my tastes. Just give me a small cone of water at good force and I'm fine.
