If your actual site and setting are similar to the illustration, have you considered one of the earth colors for your exterior siding? Would look wonderful, and would avoid the trendy, HGTV look! :-)

I have these factory color options to choose from for the B&B siding for natural/earthy

My model is using the closest to Mountain Lake that I found.
I didn't think to consider the site for dictating the color, but blue seems to still work, no?

At the risk of enraging the masses, I do not find blue to be an appealing color for a house, especially when the setting is wooded and natural.

White board and batten doesn't need to be associated with 'modern' or hgtv. There are lots of old houses that had it. It's disgusting to me that people have in a way ruined something I've always loved.

Make it any color you want (I agree with Virgil) as long as the garage and/or front door is Hunter Orange.

I think black and white will always be clean, simple, and classic. Both options look good IMO, but I prefer the blue with a little more contrast (like maybe cedar wrapped posts). The naysayers will always find something to criticize simply because they can, so I would omit those irrelevant and entirely subjective opinions from your pro/con list. If the only reason they have to hate it is because a lot of other people like it, they are contrarian for contrarian's sake.

Not to mention, I grew up living in a real farmhouse. as in, an old house, on a farm. it was white. as a matter of fact, all the houses along the road, with the edception of one small home, were white. i guess we expressed ourselves with different colors of rood and trim. ours was green. the windows were wood, repainted every so often by us kids... in white.

Either the blue or olive color would look great with a yellow or wood grain front door.

White is absolutely classic. That said, it's also been "in" for a couple of years. so white houses with black windows will, at least for awhile, look like they've very much of the 2015-2020 range. Whether you care that your house will be dated to the period in which it was built is entirely individual. And it's absolutely not "fair," given that, as others have shown it's a classic look, but fair or not, it will likely be the perception. Also, there will certainly be a coming period in which people will think the white-with-black look is dated and tired (as happens as the backlash to all trends). Will that bother you? If it's a look you've loved since long before it's moment of trendiness you may keep loving it when it is "dated," in which case go for it. If you've discovered your love of this style recently it's a lot more likely you're being subconsciously influenced by trends, and I might avoid it.

The farmhouse look can also be beautiful in a lot of other colors...

If you like white using white metal roofing with white trim to match the roof and siding to match the trim would be unique enough to avoid any 'old white house' look.

I just purchased black 400 series Anderson windows for my house and they were the same price as white. Do other companies really charge 2x the cost of white?

Actually, I like the blue... notwithstanding my earlier comment. if they offered red, I'd vote for that... A lot of Scandinavian homes ( and farm homes) are very colorful... And, they brighten the landscape after the snow falls.
Pick a color that you like.

Jokes aside, I've run renders on a few other colors available, and slept on the whole idea. Right now I feel like any deviation from my original white/black idea is a compromise I might regret. Not once have I had second thoughts on it. Lately seeing it becoming trendy is one thing, but there's no other houses in my area that are similar. Changing a color changes the whole idea of simplicity I had, at least in my opinion.

Everyones idea's are wonderful, and I think I could make them work well on this house. Like blue or green with wood accents. Or simple white with white.
I wanted a red house at one point too, but there's already 2 on the same street.
Adopting any of these ideas however, has a cascading effect on other design elements beyond just a palette swap.

In todays world of hyper-personalization of everything, I've eschewed variety and always gone with simple. I wear 1 brand of plain T-shirt, jeans, shorts. I like authentic, and I like quality.
When I look at these houses, I feel I see a reflection of myself.
No fascades or stuck on details, just a house.
It's so rare to see a house not try to have standout features that it's unique to not have uniqueness, if that makes sense. It does to me.

Marjen, anderson 400 windows are wood, and they'll need finishing anyways, so finishing them black is no difference.
My house isn't in the right price range to really justify wood windows, much less triple glazed wood. With vinyl, the plastic comes either white or beige, and coloring anything else requires another step in manufacturing.
