Help me pick a fabric! Vote!

I need valances or faux Roman shades in the kitchen. i Love my grass blinds but the hardware is ugly and needs to be hidden.

Which fabric do you think is best? i also included a few professional shots so you can see the whole kitchen.

I like both fabrics and can’t decide! I do have two pillows of the bird print already in my living room.

Perhaps I should find a solid? It’s so hard to commit to custom blinds.

    Oh I’m tickled!

Well the kitchen is so wonderful because I asked fifty million questions two years ago about the design here on garden web!

now I’m just trying to finish the last few details.

I really love my grass roller blinds but I’ve got to put something up top to cover the ugly hardware.

Wow! Gorgeous kitchen!! Out of those two bird.

Will you be putting anything on the other windows?

Not sure if you need privacy but I can picture pastel or white and sheer to allow light like below.

Right now the other rooms just have linen drapes.

I love it! Do you plan on doing something with the other kitchen window? I dont think you should just didn’t know if you need to for privacy?

    Bird.

Gawd, your kitchen is glorious!! Do you stand in there all day pinching yourself??? I sure would! I am having serious lantern envy rn...like I am wanting to run out and replace mine with yours! Did I already say glorious??

Thank you for all the compliments!

Yes I did have to install window coverings on all the windows including the one over the sink for privacy. I chose a grass roller shade and I love them but the hardware shows at the top.

Yes the lanterns are visual comfort darlana. They’re a bit spendy but make a big impact.

I am very happy with it and think it’s the best kitchen we’ve ever built. (Hubby is a contractor So this is the third personal home we’ve done).

Ok so if I use the bird at the window could you guys see a buffalo check on the barstools? they were cheap. Are they worth recovering or should I get a stool with a back?

this Is the shade style. Should I overmount?

    Or inside mount?

I'd be tempted to go with a solid. I worry the valances would be the focus if I added a print there. Your kitchen is so harmonious right now with a monochromatic palette and subtle texture. FWIW, the blind hardware isn't screaming at me. :)

ETA: Just saw your post about recovering the stools. If you'll be adding a print there, I could see a print on valances. As for the style, you have beautiful trim and I'd go with an inside mount.

This was my inspiration. I thought floral valance and buffalo check barstools?

I would go with a new grass cloth shade that include a matching valance. They’re really not that expensive give the overall cost of a kitchen remodel.

Meh. :) Sorry, not seeing the appeal of prints in that inspiration kitchen. Reads a bit busy to me. Prefer your kitchen by far. Perhaps I'd change my mind seeing your whole kitchen with the current blinds. Right now, it seems as if your blinds are a subtle colour echo of the carpet and to me, that's harmonious. (FWIW, I adore prints and colour but when I find a monochromatic room done well, I can't help sigh and applaud. Do not add thing, I whisper. :))

My goal was to add Window treatments and eventually recover the barstools and dining chairs in a fun fabric.

I have to have some kind of Window covering for privacy. I could use a solid for windows and put the birds on the barstool or the dining chairs?

if I go solid do I match the cabinets or the grass roller shades?

I am a Southern girly girl so it’s hard for me to go straight up neutral!!!

And keep in mind those are professional photos. The windows feel a bit stark to me with nothing on them. They’re very tall.

Neither. The shades were ordered incorrectly. They should have been called out for a reverse roll and that will fix the issue. Go back to where the shades were ordered and have it fixed.

Beautiful harmonious rooms. I'm seeing neutrals, soft colours, subtle prints and a bit of texture. Nothing's loud or jarring. I think you can certainly trust your eye and taste to keep the big picture in mind when choosing fabric to add to this kitchen. You've done a fabulous job in your home so far.

The two prints you're considering for the valance are really lovely. I would get all the samples I was considering, place them in their respective spots and and look at them from different points in the room, not just close up. I'd also take pictures of the whole room with the samples to see if anything jumped out at me or if the whole read as cohesive. In your inspiration picture, for example, the buffalo check stools jump out at me then my eye goes to the glass cabinets and then the valance. I'm not seeing that kitchen whole. Right now, I see your kitchen and dining whole. Does that make sense?

ETA: Just saw Beverly's post. Hmm. That would be an easy fix. :)

And nope, not seeing turquoise in your mix. :)

I can only work with the picture posted and it isn't a close up, but I have posted the illustration of a reverse roll shade and typically that is how they appear.

thank you for the suggestions!!! This is the hardware. I love my shades and want to keep

them. I just don’t like seeing the hardware.

If the reverse roll doesn't fix the hardware visibility, would it be possible to get a straight valance made from the same material? I'd call the store and explain my dilemma. I'm sure they can find a solution for you that works with the existing shades.

I like tartan's suggestion -- IMO florals etc. will attract a lot of attention. A fabric covered piece to conceal the hardware. I think it picks up on the nice lines of the hood.

Yes, what tartan said. The current fabric at the windows is just so lovely and the perfect complement to your beautiful kitchen. It would seem a shame not to be able to use what's there.

I like the bird pr8nt because it’s whimsical and I think adds to the room and I really like your inspiration picture. I see the southern girl influence in it and think it has an elegant charm to it.

I think that you should add the fabric on the right side of the vent hood, it maintains the style that you are going for with the two options but is a little more modern to go with the style of the kitchen!
