I like #1, and would use it for both the seat and valance.

I'd vote for #1 for the valance and a bench cushion in off-whote with deep blue piping for strong contrast.

#4 is a fun sidekick to the chevron pillows you already have. It looks like the scale of the pattern is much smaller which makes it a nice compliment..I'd go for it!

I would find a way to use them all! What a nice bohemian vibe that would add to your lovely room!

Love the idea of the cushion in the #4 chevron pattern and the valance in the #2 stripe. Pipe them both in the same solid color for an extra design element!

They are all nice. What kind of valance? I'd try to incorporate a couple of the patterns. I like the #1 paisley for the valance and accent with the stripe. I agree you could use the #4 chevron for the cushion, and do the piping in the stripe-it will be on the bias and add a nice touch. Then another pillow with #1 paisley--a lumbar pillow. And don't forget to throw a couple coordinating pillows on the bed to tie it together.

Definitely use two different fabrics. Because they are all in the same color family they will look great together. I would choose #1 for the bench and 2 for the valance.

Number 1 - love it. I vote for valance in no 1 and a second cushion also number 1 (perhaps rectangular not square) and as someone else suggested seat cushion in off white with blue piping.

My hat off to your mother-in-law! They are four great fabrics. This will be a hard decision but I don't think you can go wrong with any of them.

Just had another idea...can she make the bench cushion with 2 different fabrics, so you can flip it over for a new look?

You obviously have to use all of them somehow! Surprised no one suggested lining the backs of the shelves with #3.

I vote number 1 paisley , you already have a geometric in the pillows, and use that pale gray that appears in the paisley for the wall color , it appears to be a gray or gray green. And pop some of the blue elsewhere in the room but not too much or it will look like a child's room. Perhaps a blue glass lamp base for either side of the bed.

Don't put in a valance, it's a dated look. Use one of these for the cushion, and the other 3 for 20" pillows.

Paint the inside wall the blue from the fabric of the pillows to make the plantation shutters and bookcases standout. Pillows and accessories will be all the pattern you need

Your pattern needs to be larger and free-form for seat cushion.

I would use #1 for the valance. Depending on the style of the valance you could line in a solid. I would use #3 for the top and bottom of the bench seat and do the sides and a welt in # 2 or coordinating solid. Since you already have a chevron pattern I would not repeat that pattern. I would get another one of the Chevron pillows to put on the bench seat. Option 2, for a clean and simple option, I would still use #1 for the valance, make the seat cushion in the solid and make a pillow with #3 or additional Chevron pillow.

Thanks everyone! And especially thanks for pointing out I don't HAVE to have a valance up there.... for some reason I had convinced myself it was a necessity.

I like #1 because it offers a contrast to the geometric pattern of the chevrons. The rest of the fabrics have the same kind of genometric idea, so I think #1 softens the look and gives visual intrest that compliments without getting too busy.

I vote #1 also but love the idea of incorporating a reversible w/solid for future if you decide to change the color scheme. I also like the idea of incorpoating all the other patterns somewhere in the room decor. I noticed another chair is it staying? Maybe recover that cushion with one of the other patterns. forgot to add; a lap throw something soft, in the pale blue or ivory color would also be a nice touch :)
