Possibly Tapeinochilos ananassae, Indonesia wax ginger. This seems to have naturalized widely in suitable areas of Hawaii.

Looks more like a Costus, likely C. woodsonii

Would need a close up of the seed heads to confirm species. They look a little too squat and plump for button ginger IMO.

The Costus-like plant asked about here is producing strictly terminal inflorescences in the photo provided. Whereas the wax ginger apparently does not do this:

Hmm yes, it does appear to be some type of Ginger.

Although, the flowers on Tapeinochilos ananassae (Pineapple Ginger) seem to bend down, instead of up.

And the inflorescence on Costus woodsonii (Red Button Ginger) is smooth all around.

So, neither seems to be a great, specific fit?
