The Breuer chairs just don't work, for me, at all. Especially at the head and foot.

Both choices seem out of proportion to the very cool table. Of the two, though, I like the Cesca chairs better.

Well the table and ghost chairs are ours (we’ve had them for a while). Just trying out other dining chair options because I’m tired of the ghost chairs. Whatever we chose would completely replace the ghost chairs, we probably wouldn’t do a mix. I don’t want anything upholstered as I have young children. Also not looking to spend a fortune, again due to the young destructive little people who live with us.

I think you should search for another option. Sorry, I don't like either. The rest of your room is great! Maybe wait till your kids are older and get comfortable upholstered chairs. Your kids won't be little forever. If you replace your chairs now, in 5 years your kids won't be an issue & you're stuck with chairs that weren't your first choice.

At over $400 per chair, Ghost chairs are not exactly cheap...I agree with loobab. Any way you can still make them work somehow, instead of completely replacing them?

I don't like the cesca chairs with the rest of your room at all; they seem jarringly out of place with the other elements. I voted for the ghost chairs, but agree with other posters that there is probably a third option that would look great, if you don't want to dress up the ghost chairs as loobab suggested.

I don’t think the cesca works at all I would change the rug before getting rid of the ghosts I ahve always loved them. I have done seat cushions for them but in a much lighter space with a glass table.

Then you just have the green on the wall and you can get any kind of rug you like which will totally change the look of the room and if you still want to, you can get coordinating cushions to pick up a color in the rug or forget the cushion idea, it's up to you.

I am a fan of hand made oriental carpets of all types, they wear well, even under the assault of children, I have personal experience.

They cost much less than you think, too.

Thank you to everyone for their advice! I’ll try to work with my ghost chairs and will explore some cushion options. I actually love my rug and get quite a few compliments on it. I think the cushions may be the easiest (and cheapest) option right now. My husband still loves the ghost chairs and was adamantly against any new chairs so the cushion idea may be a happy medium. If you are going to make your own cushion covers, buy a lot of extra fabric. (Go to the fabric district in your city and when you buy that much fabric they will find you a big cardboard roll for it so it won't get wrinkled and ask them to wrap it in paper for you.)

This way, if your children make a mess, you don't need to wince and moan, you can easily make another. Also, make a mock up pattern in muslin or paper that you save so you can make a new cover 1-2-3 so you don't have to re-invent the wheel each time.

Out of the two I think the ghost chairs fit the space the best. Although, I think you could explore better options in operating the black and back into the chairs

Not so keen on the Casa chair in your beautiful room. They just feel to casual to me.

Thank you everyone! I ended up purchasing some chairs one sale that I really like (also love that I won’t have a heart attack if the kiddos destroy them). I’ll keep the ghost chairs in storage as they’ll be useful when I have more guests (not to mention I have spent a decent amount of money acquiring them over the years... and they’re classic). The Cesca chair is going back. Attached are some photos of the new chairs though I’m still waiting on two more and still trying to figure out my end chairs (that’s not urgent though). Thanks again!

Maybe you can use a few of the ghost chairs with desks or in corners, elsewhere. I do love them.

You chose wisely. A thought might be to add a backless bench. Then you would have seating at both ends of the table for company.
