Yet Another Thread on Alfalfa Tea

subk3

I mixed up 15 gallons worth 3 days ago--4 cups of alfalfa pellets to 5 gallons of water--but did NOT put a lid on. I'm reading different recipes and some instructions are to "put a lid on to prevent mosquitos." Then I read about anaerobic fermentation (but I don't now if a lid is required) being good, but others indicating that it promotes bad pathogens. I've stirred it up a couple times a day. So far no smell. (but that might be because I'm immune as I'm around a lot of horse manure and don't smell that either!)

So lid or no lid? Is the lid important to the process or just a convenience?

Should I dilute this mixture before using it?

Should I use it on bareroots that were put in a month ago and leafing out and looking super heathy?

If I add Alaska Fish Fertilizer how much would you recommend for 5 gallons?

If I add Epsom salts how much would you recommend for 5 gallons?

How long do you let it sit before you use it?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!! I'm sure I'm making this much more difficult than it needs to be.
