Not on your list but I second LG. I love my LG WM8100HVA. You can fit 2 loads in 1 with this machine. Any LG cleans extremely well. You can search for an online library login for consumer reports and check their charts of best washers also.

FWIW, I've heard from several sources that if LG or Samsung break, it can be difficult to find a repair person.

Neilymon, I'm not sure if we looked at that front loader or not. There were so many to choose from! But maybe not bc the ones we did consider were like 6-9+inches deeper than what we have and I didn't want to give up that much space. Especially with the door on the front.

We ended up picking one of hte Maytag top loaders. I can't even remember which one my DH decided on. I'll find out Friday when it's delivered haha I'm sure I overthought it all but it shouldn't be that hard to find one that works well.

2019 speed queen model. They have been redesigned to be similar to the 2017 model.

Far as I'm aware, there's only one newly-introduced SQ model that's of the same mechanical design as the 2017 and prior machines. It's model TC5, TC5000WN, or AWN632SP ... also called the "Classic."

The new-design TR3, TR5, and TR7 are still available, they're not discontinued.

Be advised that the TC5 does not have a mechanical timer ... it has rotary controls on the panel but is controlled by a computer board. It also does not have a water level selector. The only choices for fill level are the "default" level and the Deep Fill option, which adds a few gallons (2 to 3 inches higher level over the "default").

I'd get a Speed Queen, whether you decide on the front or top loader. I could be wrong on this point, but I don't think the Speed Queen front loader is very deep, so space shouldn't be a problem.

Have you decided? We are trying to decide between the redesigned speed queen "the classic" and the maytag 575. They are supposed to be comparable and the maytag is less so we are leaning towards it but still have not made a decision.

I selected some Maytag model. I think it was this 835 model. So far I like it.

Justwantapool, I'm in the same position and curious as to which model you bought and if you like it. Does it lean close well? Our Whirlpool Cabrio doesn't get clothes clean.

pretty sure I got the 835 Model. so far so good on cleaning clothes. and no holes in them like the stupid Cabrio.

I thought it had a soak option but that must have been a different machine bc it doesn't. That's the only other thing I wish it had. But I feel like my clothes are a whole lot cleaner than they used to be.

Speed Queen. I trust our appliance repairman. . He’s not only kept our 2004 washing machine going strong, needed only 2 very inexpensive repairs in all that time, but he never tried to upsell us. In fact, he urges us to keep our machine as long as possible. He insists only Speed Queen is worth purchasing.

This is an interesting blog by Lorain appliances. They lost their SQ dealership when they spoke out and made videos about the changes in SQ for 2018 TR models. They have some very informative videos showing the change in ability to clean with the TR models. This is also backed up by Consumer Reports. They also talk about the new SQ “Classic” model.

Welick- I’m so grateful you posted that blog info. It is very hard to find honest reviews of appliances and that dealer was totally open in his video review on Wirecutter., clearly the reason Speed Queen dropped him as a dealer. His basic message is avoid the 2018 TR model.

He does have high praise for the 2019 TR washing machine model manufactured by Speed Queen but a Maytag commercial machine gets higher praise. I wish there were more honest reviews out there for ovens, washers, dryers, etc

I see many so-called “reviews” which are simply advertisements in disguise.

The TR models also continue along side the TC 5000.

It hard to get honest reviews. There are shills that turn up on this forum too.

I was going to pick the maytag commercial but my husband was worried bc it was smaller capacity.

And at the time there was no mention of a new 2019 SQ being different. All the comments and advice to buy a SQ bc they've had the same one for 10+ years really does nothing to help me in 2019 quite frankly. I wasn't going to spend weeks trying to track down an older model when I had dirty clothes piling up.

Maybe mine won't last 15 years. whatever. idgaf. my clothes are cleaner than they were the past 8 and that's enough for me.

Got a speed queen a few years ago. Faster washer I've ever had. Amazing. It's huge and it cleans well too. Bought one for my mother a couple years ago and she mentions to me how much she loves it pretty much once a month!
