Washer drain pan too shallow

I’m under contract on a new build spec house that generally is very well thought out. The laundry room has a built in washer/dryer drain pan with a tiled lip. I wondered why they hadn’t installed a launders pair, but when i measured it it’s only about 26” front to back. That fits no equipment other than maybe a tiny European model, especially taking into account cords and hoses and vents. I’ve asked the builder to redo it, but if he doesn’t the only thing I can think of to do is set the washer and dryer in rubber pads so they clear the tile lip and the front feet are outside the drain pan. Not optimal, but it’s really almost the only flaw in the house. Any other ideas?
