June, 2019 Quilting/Sewing Goals (try #3)

Typically, graduations and weddings were June events that we worked to have our quilts ready for gifting. But now, there are people graduating in December or whenever and those weddings? HA! Even on Mondays. In any case, my family knows they'll get what I promised, eventually. lol

I have a short list this month (because I did 84 blocks last month, mostly at my 2 week retreat) but I MUST, MUST complete a quilt my sister-in-law asked if I would make for her. The top was already made so just sandwiching and quilting. I already have it almost all sandwiched so once I clear off the kitchen table, I can complete that part. Other than that there are BOMs from: THS, Delphi (2), FB and pillowcases to a grandniece and grandnephew grads the colors of the colleges they are going to. And, if I have time, to sew another row on the Row By Row I'm working on.

What's on your sewing calendar for this month?

Sharon, so sorry the website is giving you so much trouble.

I really want want to start a new quilt top, but I haven’t finished any of those I brought to retreat! One is almost done, so I hope to post a photo soon.

I bought some more fabric for the antique ones I’m repairing - or remaking, as it turns out!

Our little friend turns five today, so I’d also like to make her a summer dress. Lots of sewing in my future!

Well, if we can get our health issues sorted out, I want to just get back to the machine and do anything.

My Echo results were fine but I then had to wear the monitor for two weeks. We will get results of that next week. DH has had some marks on his face for some time and of the seven, two were non malignant but the other five were forms of cancer.. He is waiting for a call to see a specialist about the most serious and needs to have the area around his left eyebrow totally removed which will also include the left eyelid. It is all connected. So he is quite concerned as are we all. There is a "black cloud" over this house.

Maybe I should sew it away.

My only goal is to make it to vacation that starts June 28! I am in the orchestra for a show and we are in rehearsals from 6-11 pm Mon. - Thurs. this week. Opening night is Friday. We have shows this Fri - Sat - Sun. Next week shows are Thurs, Fri, Sat (2) and Sun. Then I have one free weekend before we go, so I'll be BUSY that weekend!

latifolia, When tecnnology doesn't work like it's supposed to, I get frustrated. Especially when I do everything the same as before and it worked. Oh well.... :-) I'm so glad you came to retreat. Renewing those vintage/antique quilts you brought is quite a task, but it looked like you were well able.

Theresa, I am so sorry about that black cloud!!! Hoping for some better and easier answers for your DH. I think you're right.....sew, just sew. Make crumb blocks....you don't have to think, just sew. Or, make FQs of fabric by sewing scraps of the same colors...I've been wanting to play with that idea. lol

Donna, You will be ready for vacation by the time it gets here! Hope it's a restful and enjoyable time for you.

I have one pillowcase completed, the other one ready for French seams, and one BOM is completed.

Right now my goal is to get the long arm tension fixed. Dan at Nolting is working on it.

Theresa, I'm so glad your tests have been good so far. You and your DH are going through a rough time with the cancerous spots on his face. I hope all goes well for you. It is a scary time.

No specific goals for me - just want to keep on quilting.

All BOMs are completed for this month, both pillowcases are completed and the quilt is ready for quilting! Hoping to be able to work on it this week-end. :-)

    Black cloud update.

my monitor results showed no arrythmia. Yippee!

husband story much different. He was in a dr. Examining room waiting for her to come in when he started feeling strange. He was having a stroke. So he is in hospital now and will go to a rehab facility as soon as a bed is free.

Really downside is that the hospital is 200 miles from home. But once transferred he will be 5 minutes away.

    the cloud is getting darker.

keep us all iN Your thoughts please.

Theresa, I'm sorry about your husband. Hopefully, he will return to good health and he will be close enough to watch over when he moves to rehab.

They've been griping about the posting of photos on another Houzz forum I visit. They've given up on posting a photo on the initial post. They are just posting the photo to a second post. I haven't tried to post a photo like that, so will have to experiment.

Part of the problem may be the size of the photo. Your camera (or phone) can take a larger (more defined, more detail) than Houzz wants to store or you can actually see on most computer screens. So, Houzz reduces the photo. That's why it takes so long to load - it's reducing your photo. If you give up and leave the site before it's finished, the post is lost. You can reduce the problem by resizing your photo to 96 dpi with a photo program. You can use "Paint" that is included with Windows (or many other programs). It's under Windows accessories in the start menu. (I apologize if I've already posted this. My brain in kind of foggy with all that's going on right now.)

I'm so sorry about your husband, Theresa. We're all getting older and so many health problems come up. I hope he gets through this well.

I'm just sewing together blocks for son's quilt. I hurt my "sewing" leg so couldn't drive that machine well for awhile but it's getting better am doing a little bit each day as long as my leg holds out. I hope to get the quilt off to the longarmer by end of the month. It's king size or I'd be doing it myself. Quilt isn't terribly challenging but it's a gift of their choice.

Oh Theresa...just catching up and reading about your husband, so sorry. Hugs and prayers for a quick recovery.

    Black cloud update

he was returned here to Windsor yesterday. I just visited him. He is having trouble with his right leg, he says it is gout!

A busy day for him with at least three different therapy sessions. He is doing remarkably well but gets frustrated that he can't remember.

I didn't get to talk to nurses or doctors but he may not be there terribly long. ( long enough for me to get some chores done!!!)

Thank you all for your hugs, (I could feel them all the way up here), your prayers and good wishes.

Theresa, that sounds like a good report! I'm so glad the stroke happened at the doctor's office - I'm sure the early intervention helped a lot. I'm also really glad he's closer to home. That will be less stress on both of you.

Remember to take care of yourself, too.

Theresa, You must appreciate him being closer and I'm sure you'll be able to get information. You might have to track someone down, but that's what we do. Do you think they'll release him even if he's having problems with his leg? Take care of yourself, too. Hugs......

Theresa, I'm so sorry to hear about hour husband. Glad he got quick help and seems to be doing well. Keeping you both in my prayers.

Theresa, I hope the dark cloud has lifted more for you and your husband. Continued prayers coming your way.

Thank you all again for your prayers and good wishes.

We just returned from our Family Doctor who is pleased with his physical recovery, now to work on the memory. He says it was caused by an Afib episode, so will do further testing to narrow Problems down.

And to think I was the one being tested last month for this very thing. Do you think he 'caught' it from me. LOL.

One son was home this week to do some chores and one daughter and hubby will be here next week.

Then he still has to have the skin cancer taken care of.
