Wow that's some plant! I've never grown nor eaten fava beans but now I'm tempted, it's a pretty plant. Looks like a cross between okra and sweet peas. Are they really in the bean family? Do they taste good................enough? ;-) Happy Harvest

They are most definitely in the bean family. They taste great but not like 'regular' beans. The flowers also smell wonderful and are rather curious in that they're black and white. The pods in the picture are ready for picking. The plants look a little bit leggy as if they need more light. And they don't need a trellis because they don't climb. Just run a string up one side of the row and down he other with a stake at each end.
