hello, you should just put in a few recessed lights and let the vanity light shine. Do you ever use the fan?

I never use the fan. What would I do with that? Thank you!

I agree that the solution is to get some canned lighting.

I recently remodeled and had canned lighting installed including a fixture n the walk in shower.

I also have sconces which I almost never use but are there for ambient lighting and style plus a lit mirror on the wall for grooming.

Some of my canned lights are on motion detectors which is a feature which I absolutely love. I don't have to hit the switch or remember to turn it off. This is required by California Code and I thought it would be weird but it turned out to be great. The only downside is that I will sometimes forget to put the light on in the shower and so the lights will go out and I will be taking a shower in twilight :-).

You definitely need a fan which is vented to get rid of moisture in the bathroom. This is actually required by Code - at least in my jurisdiction. I also never used the fan previously but mine is a Panasonic which has a moisture detector so it turns on and off to keep the bathroom at a specific humidity level. Most of the time it is off but it definitely works for awhile after a shower.

I cannot imagine having a bath with shower and not using or having a workable fan. All three bathrooms in this 1955 house have small, vintage, little workhorses of efficient fans, and used every time someone bathes. I suspect that may have always been the case, and why the almost 65 yr old tiled baths are as pristine as the day they were constructed with everything functioning and never mildew. Two have their original wallpaper ;0)

use your fan , it there for a reason.

It is code to have a fan. If you ever sold the house you would have to place a fan back in. At least where I am it is code. Just put a flat fan in and then add recesses lights if your vanity lights aren't enough light.
