I seem to have seen on my FB an ad for Speed Queen front load washers now boasting that they have left and right swing doors on their washers, unlike before where their doors were hinged in one certain way.

The ad did not mention the dryers though, so I don't know what that situation is currently.

Move the connections. It is what needs to happen 100% to future proof your existence in that house.

I just checked with LG and they have no washer with reversible doors (even though on some web sites (Best Buy) says they do.

It looks like Electrolux would be your most cost effective option.

Out of curiosity, are most homes set up with washer on the left, or the right? Mine is washer on left side.

Hoping to make you feel better..I have Electrolux w/d going on 6 years now and no complaints. I basically chose them for the fact that the doors were reversible since our plumbing was set up for washer on the right. Mine are not stacked, but I would find it too high to use comfortably

@GreenDesigns, if you were advising me (not someone else) to move the connections, that's not the issue. It's that the corner where I want to put them would do a ton better with right swing. But I've redrawn things a bit, and we might be happier with the new version! thx

@SeaSea, when they're side by side, washer on left and dryer works perfectly. It gets odd when you stack them...

Think of your layout working best for your microwave to be abutting a wall on the right, but since microwaves are left swing, you're restricted in your access by the wall looming on the right.

Something else I discovered today: gas dryers are going the way of the dodo, at least in high-end brands, especially compact. Now I have to persuade Hubs that electric dryers are just fine.

Glad It was helpful. We specifically set ours up that way to avoid an outside wall for the washer...and then the buyer of our old house wanted the w/d, so we had to find something else. We got a great deal by not being picky about the color (steel). Good luck

We've had stacked Electrolux w/d for three years. Ours, too, are placed in a corner. Great machines. Not a lick of trouble, and they’re fairly quiet. Would definitely recommend.

According to this machines' spec sheet, this GE unit has a reversible door.
