Yes. I would like to change the light fixtures. I haven’t found any yet.

Don't add more furniture to the floor other than what you currently have. Most of the space should be left open. You can put a large mirror or piece of art over the entry table by your front door. If you need a shoe bench, try to find a slightly larger one that has enclosed storage or a shelf underneath for the shoes. Your gallery wall placement is fine. Then add large pieces of art to the other walls. Lower your art over the dining table.

Many clients welcome additional storage for their lifestyle. Especially with children. I think you have enough space for storage, both in the hall and the kitchen walkway.. The cabinet would be about the same depth as the bench that is currently there.

Large art and a couple of long runners would be a good start.

If there is no coat closet (I see none) and if you live where there is cold weather, at least add a hall tree for cold weather visitors. A rug for boots would be good then, too. The boot rug and coat rack/hall tree should be fairly near to the front door.
I would add a looonnnggg rug (or two or three shorter matching rugs) about a foot or so narrower than the hall and almost as long as the hall. An Oriental rug or three would look good and add color. Be sure to use a thin rug mats to keep the rugs from slipping on the floor.
Hang family photos in one recessed area. Hang art in several more spots.
A console table near the living room might come in handy for purses unless the ladies take them into the living room.

Thank you everyone. I really like all the ideas. Out home is getting painted next month. I am going to start looking for large art, a Buffett/ cabinet and some rugs and light fixtures.
