IMO it will look bad you will have 3” on either side that wiil overhang the width of the cabinet you have and look nothing like the picture you posted making the drawers on either side useless NO NO this will not look good.

Yes you can. You can build the drawer boxes narrower to still have somewhat of a drawer.

I assume you are talking about JUST the cook top. Plan to lose the drawer function entirely. Personally, I'd live with 30 inches. Keep a counter top plug in for the times you need another burner. I don't even remember the last time I had four pots on the stove...........................maybe never : )

What’s above? That’s considerably more complicated as you can’t have a 30” vent above a 36” cooktop. That would be a fire hazard.

Echoing the two posts above that asked what is above the 30" cooktop you have. If it's a hood, it needs to be 36" wide. If it's a standard OTR MW, that will have to go, because it is only 30" wide, with cabinets on either side of it. You cannot have any cabinetry directly over the cooktop. They are combustible, and no combustible material can be directly over a cooktop. Do not think that because a cooktop is induction it somehow does not follow those same rules. Grease fires are grease fires, regardless if induction is the energy source.

Also, if this is induction instead of just a standard electric, the ventilation requirements for BELOW the top are quite different and MUST be adhered to. You may end up losing drawers.

You will for sure have to reinforce the support for the countertop, possibly with some steel. You would be cutting away the cabinet walls that support the top. That would leave a too far span between supports for most stone top support requirements.

Some points in this thread seem to have been missed. What type of cooktop? What cupboard dimensions? Cabinet dimensions. Maybe provide a photo.

You would need to cut the sides of the center cabinet and and adjacent cabinets to accommodate the cooktop. The electrical box for the armored cable to the cooktop would also have to be located in the correct location. For example, the 36" Frigidaire FPIC3677RF would require that you make a 19-1/4" deep x 3-5/8" high (less thickness of the countertop) cutout for the cooktop and that the electrical box be in the correct location at the rear right, possibly in the cabinet at the right of the center cabinet.

It would be a lot easier to install the 30" Frigidaire FPIC3077RF which would fit within the 30" cabinet.
