Good morning! We've got some serious night owls on here:). Flo I haven't had a chance to check out Kirkland's website yet but will do so. I hadn't really considered having an accent wall because I'm normally not a fan, but I certainly wouldn't rule it out. I think if I were going to do that I'd just use the same color that's in my dining room. When I posted the pic with the navy color scheme it was the tan color I was liking, because I want to change the entire living room wall color now; not just the one wall. PPG's website says the Knight's Armor has a black undertone so I'm wondering about sticking with that same paint card and using "Thin Ice" on the other three walls. I think the teal is beautiful but really don't want to bring in another deep color. Love the idea of framing some fabric for artwork!!! As far as the small wall if you stand in front of it you face the dining room. Not sure if I need another mirror there because I already have one in the foyer and the dining room. I'll attach more pics for perspective.

Ellen Tracy I can certainly try moving the tree art. I had thought about it but then decided not to because the art is narrow and that wall is is approximately 20' tall so I thought the art might look dwarfed. Won't know until I try will I?:)

Thanks; that sweet grandbaby is now a non-stop chatterbox 2-1/2 yr old! I just think that owl picture has a lot going for it and, if I were you, I’d find a spot for it! I actually kind of liked it where you tried it out (on the floor), but not with the other piece, unfortunately.

Have you tried that tree pic above the chairs?

Altadavey 2 1/2 is such a fun age but exhausting lol! We had not tried the tree pic over the chairs but you’re the 2nd person to mention it so we’re going to try it. I’ll post a pic when we do. And I agree about not liking pics together. I think Mr. Owl is going away.

If it were me, I would save the chairs for the dining room library and get a nice bench and do a a wall of art to a similar height as the tv. set for balance.

Totally understand on the teal. Your dining room color would be nice. It would create an emphasis on the architecture of the high ceiling and angled look. Then the other walls could be lighter.

Groveraxle I LOVE those pictures and the round table is perfect. IF I paint that wall the same color as the dining room would you still recommend a black table? May I ask where you found the pics?

Paula, I have to admit I didn't read the whole thread, so I don't know what color you're planning to paint. This particular table is from Crate & Barrel and comes in a couple of other finishes.

Thank you Groveraxle!!! Wall might be painted "Knights Armor". It's a PPG paint. If not that then probably a light gray like "Thin Ice"; it's on same paint card.

CindyR I'm on a mission to get rid of that rug. Hubby loved and I was trying to compromise. It's about 3-4' feet to short lengthwise and he agrees we need a bigger one. But until we do at least a different wall color will help.

Hi Paula. Following along. You have a beautiful home and you’re quite adept at this decorating game. I have one tiny request. When you get to the dining room repurpose, please consider painting out the racing stripe around the ceiling. It would look better painted either the same color as the ceiling or the same color as the wall. In the meanwhile, I have this little table in my IB very similar to Grover’s suggestion. FYI.

Tree art moved-it's 12" above back of chairs. Easy to raise or lower but my bigger concern is that it's not wide enough. Groveraxle you have such an eye for this-thoughts?

i vote small round table between, colorful landscape rather than portrait oriented art above it. I would either do something taller than what paula posted or raise it a little- too much open wall left above it. pretty eyes with a big glaring forehead

Not bad. Move floor lamp away and with that little round gold table might work. Might lower art about an inch so it isn’t so lined up with top of door frame on left.

I just yearn for bigger wall art there. Like tall and wide as chairs.

Yea Flo, I agree. My guts told me picture wasn't long enough but a couple people suggested it and it never hurts to try. I think getting art right is one of the hardest parts of this process. Kind of stuck with floor lamp where it's at for now because I have no floor outlet. Could always move it to another room I suppose. Aughhh I'm getting frustrated.

Personally, in your lovely home, i will remove the seating area since the 2 big sofa offer plenty of options already. I will actually open up the area with a open shelving unit and display lovely object. Here my vision.

If you want to use this art, I would actually lower it. Don't be concerned with how much space there is above the art. The point is to connect the chair and the art so they read as a unit.

I think a piece that contrasts less with the chairs would work better though, or you could tie the art in with some green pillows.

Thanks Groveraxle:). We’re going to move it back to it’s original spot (pic at beginning of post if you want to see it). I’m not feeling it above the chairs at all. Trying to find art that would look ok with that pic and fill the space (width wise) above the chairs correctly. I’m not worried about the space above because the wall is 20-22’ tall. Trying to fill the overall width which is about 88-89”. Not a huge fan of pairs so need 3 pics about 30” wide. Not easy to find. Do you have any recommendations as to what would look good with tree art? Does the art in the same room have to be the same theme and/or color? I truly suck at this.

I like the trees there. The throw is pulling my eye down so I’d remove it, straighten the chairs, put the little table back and place an upright something or other on the table.

And I liked the trees higher, where you had it the first time.

Love leaner mirror etc there. Reflecting TV not a big problem. It helps make that spot work as a group. If the TV reflection bothers you hang a boxwood wreath to distract the eye and change with holidays!

Hey Shirlpp and Flo:). I absolutely love the big mirror but have seen so many comments on here about them needing to reflect something beautiful so thought maybe I shouldn’t do that. The search for art has nearly reduced me to tears today.

Oh no. No tears allowed. This is suppose to be fun! About mirror rules. I consider most “design rules” to be “guidelines” so keep that in mind. Second, a leaner mirror reflects items looking up so might not even reflect TV. I have done a couple settings like this and used mirrors. If you have pretty fireplace, hanging mirror works. If not, leaning mirrors work great. World Market has some great ones for most reasonable prices. Their sales are worth waiting for on big items. So don’t rule it out. ;)

Flo I know, right? So many other real problems to cry about. I just get very frustrated when I can’t figure things out. Plus my day started with bad hair and we all know how that makes us feel lol!!! I would seriously be lost without all the help on here. Y’all are awesome!!

I hope you will find art you and your husband like, look for it together, now that you know the shape and size you want you can look with purpose. No to the mirror! No to the reflection of the tv! Getting something then having to stick a wreath on it because you don’t like it makes no sense!

And along comes Celerygirl with the answer to your tears. It's beautiful! Please go with it - it is sooo you(judging from your other furnishings). The candleholders, round table and lamp are nice too!

I do like Celerygirl's mock up, but it does reflect the tv. Smaller mirrors will give the same sparkle with no reflection.

Ohhhhhhh ok , then you just balance your existing wall art with candle holders.

Hey all:). Had to step away from this overnight; my brain was on overload. I'm really going to have to think hard on this and figure out what speaks to me. All I know with any certainty is that owl pic is gone, tree pic is going back where we had it, and I want a round table in between chairs. I'm going to continue the search for art that won't look hideous with the tree art and see where I land. Painter is booked up until at least the holidays so gonna be a slow process. I'll post progress.

Idk how entire wall is 'shaped' once the door openings are drawn in. Medium or dark paint might be nice, but consider the shape a contrasting paint will make [looking at the wall, etc...]

Add grover's black table... or your tree art, and good! :)
