Wow, what a big, nice laundry room you have!

The window is stunning.

Hate the lighting however.

It looks like they matched the one flower in the wallpaper to match the trim on the window, but agree with the floor. However, you're set if there should be a flood in this room.

Before making any big changes, do you plan on keeping the fluorescent light?

Just paint the walls and woodwork and change the light ..strip-lighting is awful ..I would keep the floor it's easier to clean if you get a flood

Thanks for bringing up the light...it is VERY ugly but I did not have it on ,my list of things to change. I will definitely do that. What you can't see in the pictures is that the cabinet doors are deteriorating (old thermafoil I think?) So those are going to have to be fixed along with other cabinet work in the house. Suggestions for type of light fixture? Just a basic ceiling flush mount?

I agree with the comments, focus on the walls, trim and lighting. The cabinets are fine, and go with the style of your home, so I would leave them, and save the money for other projects. With the natural light, and view, a soft blue or green on the walls, white trim and ceiling, some can lights, and a whimsical chandelier would be lovely. A lovely, spacious room!

It is important to have really good clear light in a laudary room where you need to see stains and may you will do some mending.

Years ago the best light was flourescent. That isn't true anymore, you can get any fixture you like and choose a good clear spectrum.

I don't care for can lights, they seem much like pock marks to me, especially out of place in a traditional home, which yours is.

I would get two fixtures rather than one, so you don't have shadows, and get plenty of light so you can clearly see what you are doing in there.

As for color of paint and trim, pick what you like best, so as to make less desirable chores more fun.

Pick fun accessories, too.

Kimberly, this is a pretty big room. Not sure just a ceiling mount would cut it.

Are you thinking of maybe under cabinet lighting? Something simple?

Wallpaper is expensive and prepping after removing it is a pain. Perhaps just painting the trim to match the cabinets and then glazing the paper to lighten the feeling will be easier. Then add a cute new ceiling fixture and install LED's under the cabinets. Add a fun rug. The photo below is not glazed but just for reference with a heavily patterned paper, you can still have fun.

Although you think the cabinets are falling apart and they may be, but, live in it for a bit. See if all of those cabinets suit how you use the laundry room.

It looks like you have a pet, a dog? Maybe a dog washing station would be in order.

I would remove all of the wallpaper and I would paint. I am not sure the trim goes well with the flooring. It may ned to be repainted.

Wow, what a big room! It's bigger than my LR I think! I would remove the wallpaper and paint the walls a soothing blue. Pain the trim a soft white. A runner or rug that has some terracottas and blues and greens. Do you need all the cabinets? Are some in better shape than others? Maybe the ones over the W/D can be removed and you can add something else functional: pull down drying rack or open shelves. 2 overhead lights (1 in W/D space and 1 near sink) + under cabinet light strips would be better I think (and likely not too expensive). Can't wait to see updates.
