We added a 20 X 20 to an existing 8 X 20 deck, then covered it with plastic lattice. Green mold growing on the deck has been a constant problem. We don't use it as much as I had expected. I am thinking of having it covered with metal roofing, replacing the railing with kneewalls and screen the space above the kneewalls. As you see from the pics, it would be a screened room attached to the house via the 8 foot deck. Would it look weird, not attached directly to the house,? Any ideas of flow between the two, the 8x20 deck is the primary exit to the yard and we also have our grill there. I was thinking of possibly a pergola shading the area of the remaining deck between the sliding backdoor and a new screen door into the screen room
