If planting in a container, I'd wait, Container soils stay warmer longer than inground soils and that can start the bulbs gowing too soon. You want to wait until soil temps are below 60F........which typically occurs when daytime temps remain below around 65F. Unless you tend to have very warm falls, I'd wait until the end of the month.

They say before the ground freezes so I would always plant mines at least ten days before the first frost I see coming down the road. Thank God for ten day fourcast, it sure helps. That would put me into the beginning of October.

Thanks all for your input. I know you're all right about timing. I just hate when HD sells stuff too early and I'm itching to get planting.
