Hello, I am purchasing a new two story build and upon recent inspection of the foundation, have some questions that the builder has indicated “happens on occasion” or is no threat to the integrity of the home. The foundation was poured mid June 2019 and sat in what continues to be a very rainy summer/fall here in the upper Midwest until framing started in mid August. First, I found water in the corner, seeping through a wall (there is no window there) in which the builder said the home is not water tight yet until they put up flashing and siding. Second, the foundation appears excessively scaly. If that is just aesthetic, that is fine, but it seems excessive and on every portion of the foundation. I will be asking to see other homes under construction in the same development to see what those foundations look like. And finally, the most concerning is a crack in the foundation with exposed rusted rebar, that doesn’t look good and have yet to get a response from the builder. I am meeting with them again, any help in understanding what their responses should be would be appreciated, thank you!
