Robin Bruce sofa issue

I recently purchased this Robin Bruce "Madeline" sofa (Rowe Furniture). The black upholstery cover and frame seem to hang too low on both sides. Left side pictured. Is this normal for this style of sofa? I've contacted Rowe Furniture several times to ask. No response.

If they don't respond, (be sure you're contacting in writing - email is fine), if you paid for the sofa with a credit card, file a dispute for payment with your cc company and see if you can get their attention that way.

Did you purchase it from Rowe, or a retailer that sells Rowe?

You should be contacting the company who took your money not the manufacturer.

Rowe Furniture has a Facebook page, chances are if you post your problem there you will hear back quickly.

Thanks. Mainly wondering if anyone with a similar style sofa can also see the upholstery cover and frame at the bottom. Perhaps this is how it is with this style of sofa, from a certain angle, but I've only had skirted sofas so I posted for feedback.

Are you talking about the black dust cover on the very bottom of the sofa? Those things are a pain from every maker and frankly I wish they would stop using them as they do nothing at all and service no purpose, yet are prone to sagging and tear easily. On my own furniture at home I usually remove them. This however is a very easy fix, the sofa just gets flipped over and you take the loose gather and re-staple it on the back under-edge. It's literally a 3 minute job. Contact your selling dealer and they will send someone out to do that. Do not contact Rowe directly, that will get you nowhere.

And for some to suggest you initiate a chargeback for this extremely minor issue is ludicrous.

If a new sofa is defective (and OP had not had the satisfaction of an answer from the manufacturer as to whether it IS or not) and can get no response from them, filing a complaint where one might get their attention is not ludicrous in my world. But perhaps my expectations for being satisfied with a large ticket item purchase is too high.

If I buy a GM car from a dealership and the lights don't work, I don't contact GM, I call the dealership. It's just the way things work.

KR. You may disagree with me, but attacking and insulting me is unwarranted and unnecessary.

OLY, no one is attacking you, however, it makes no sense to advise someone incorrectly and put them in a position where they get no results.

Frankly, this issue is such a non-issue, I wouldn't bother to contact anyone and just adjust it myself because it's likely to sag again in a year or two.

Thanks Beverly and I don't mind someone disagreeing or believing/pointing out I'm wrong, because of course I could be. I found KR's last post, directed at me personally, was inappropriate and unnecessary.

Denigrating someone else's well-intentioned response is unprofessional to say the least. Many of us are sick of the so-called "pros" who seem to think they are God's gift. In a public forum, EVERYONE gets to offer a solution (and the OP gets to pick and choose from among them) and it is fitting to the nature of this forum to respect the ideas and experience of others. Nobody cares what your credentials may be, particularly when you act like you have something to prove.

It just amazes me. I don't read many posts on this site but happened on this one because I considered buying a Robin Bruce sofa awhile back. I am stunned by the rudeness of the post by The Keeping Room person. I don't know what this person's issue is in putting down another's well-intentioned post but it is disgusting. And even worse, that person is in total denial about their viciousness. Really it is sickening to read. I have no desire to get into a "back and forth" about this but I cannot stay quiet when I read this sort of thing.

Really, get some psychological help "The Keeping Room" ; you need it.

Beverly, it isn't just sagging fabric at the bottom. The issue is that the frame is also hanging low. I would gladly staple the fabric back in place, but that isn't possible because the frame adjoins it and would prevent me from tacking it back. I'm astonished by the tone the thread has taken and I'm feeling especially grateful that the experts we worked with to restore and renovate our home were always open, with a kind and helpful approach, to our layperson questions. It was a collaborative process and I believed the Houzz community would be similarly open, helpful, and kind. For what it's worth, I took maddielee's advice and contacted the manufacturer via social media and they have responded. I didn't contact the seller for various reasons; I'm aware that is typically the appropriate route. I will inquire with Houzz about closing this thread.

The Houzz community is usually helpful, as it was in your case here. But sadly, the anonymity provided by the internet fosters unkindness.

Although I would say that The Keeping Room's comment was quite mild, for this site anyway.

They sag and show. I recently cut half of one back so the kitty had a place to hide. She loves to climb into the bottom of the chair. When it sags again, she'll lose her hidey-hole. I'll just remove it. When I have the chair reupholstered I'll request they leave it off entirely.

This is aquick fix and not worth the hassle of waiting for someone to come to deal with it. As mentioned flip it over and pullit tight and staple,
