Best way to light basement stairs

I posted a question a few days ago about sizing of pendant light for the stairs. But now I’m wondering if that is the best option or if I use a pendant light in conjunction with other lights. We have a 3 ft wide straight staircase going down into our basement. It can be seen from the main hallway and so we do want it to look nice. We plan on installing small recessed wall lighting just above the steps (spaced out evenly). We have 13 steps and the ceiling is straight across (so it’s tall towards the bottom). There are walls on both sides of the stairs all the way down (so not much natural light). My question is, should we install canned/recessed LED lighting in the ceiling. If so how many of those? Or should we install a single pendant light for design? Or both? I’ve looked on the web and am having a hard time finding the info I need. I would love suggestions.
