Donna, what great use of those odds and ends. The blankets are charming.

Before the quilting craze took hold, I remember making several afghans. I was self taught so they were pretty simple.

My mom would often make knitted or crocheted afghans for relatives. I never particularly liked them, so whenever she asked if she could make me one, I declined. After she died, we found about six that she had made, but never gifted. We gave them all to charity, except the one that was her favorite that she always used for herself. I took that one, because everyone else already had one that she had made for them. I now realize how selfish I was to decline her offer, and I'm so happy that I have one. I feel sad that I probably offended her. I started quilting several years after her death, so she never got to decline my offer of a quilt, not that she would have. Oh, well, live and learn.

Nicely done, Donna. I cannot imagine changing yarn color so often as you must have in making those squares. No more knitting or crocheting for me with these arthritic fingers.
