What exactly is the size (in inches x inches or feet x feet, whichever is appropriate) of these extra-fluffy bathroom towels? They apparently are huge. I can fit 5 of my bathtowels in my 15KG toploader, along with a bunch of other items such as wash cloths, hand towels, socks, dish cloths and dish towels.

Hi Dadoes, I can fit 3-4 regular bath towels in 2.1 cu ft. Bosch, with is still not great for our family. I end up doing laundry every day, and I would like to do it once a week all day long, Bosch takes 1-2 hours per load and then dryer takes 2 hours, so by the time first load is done, one third of the day is done.

I d not want a faster cycle, I don't believe US machines do a proper job washing, just a bigger capacity, but also good washing

I just bought bath towels from target and only 2 fit. They are 30X 54 inches, extra fluffy.

How about LG or Samsung. Are they gentle on delicate clothes. How happy you are with their wash cycle, treatment of clothes, stain removal, leakage?

P.S. Having a washer and dryer in the kitchen would rock. I do not know why people do not do that. Having to run to the basement or upstairs thousands of times per day, and trying to remember a load when you have kids running around or work to do is nearly impossible.

The former is often an avoidable problem. Stench can be the result of bad user practices such as only running cold washes, using too much detergent, not leaving the door open, using lots of fabric softener, and etc. On the latter, the anti-microbial treatment' does have an odor. Some folks find it noticeable and offensive. Some do not. Best check out a display model in person to find out if it bothers you or not.

Also, when I was researching compact washers last year, I found several YouTube videos from W-1 owners where they washed a King size down comforter, a/k/a "duvet." Might want to look for those and see what you think.

I misstated the rating of my HE/impeller toploader. It's 3.7 cu ft, 15.4 lb or 7 kg.

I did a test for comparison. I can fit these eight (dry) towels into it (standard weight, not extra-fluffy). The measurements are what I got after unfolding them from the cupboard, probably not "official" dimensions.

That is a good load: 8 towels and with 2 extra large! Right now I am not anywhere near it. I jut watched Miele washer video on you tube. I am not sure Miele can fit all those either.

Last question: do you think that two small loaders, it is going to be old Bosch and new Miele in my case is a good substitute for a one larger machine?

The other thing is the W1 can hold a lot, but Miele has recommend weight maximums for each cycle. On the 860 model, for normals it is 17.6lbs, for the towel cycle 11lbs.

When I first got the machine this concept was new to me, but if you use a floor scale to weigh yourself and then hold the laundry and weigh yourself again, then subtract the difference, it's easy to figure out how much everything weighs. I never had to do this again because all of laundry cycles I use were way under their recommended maximums.

That video is kind of funny. Reminds me of the first few loads I ran through the Miele. It was like a clown car unloading things--I could not believe how much it could hold! One thing to consider as well is that the Miele notifies you (on your phone) when the load is done, and you can set it to start remotely. I know that sounds minor, but it has REALLY changed how efficient I am with laundry.

And since you mention the cashmere sweaters, that's another fantastic thing about the machine--I've washed good wool and cashmere and it comes out beautifully. Everything is clean, but it feels like it really babies my delicates. Even the dryer seems so gentle, I guess because of the heat pump. It's pulling moisture from your clothes, rather than cooking them the way my old gas dryer did. Hope that helps!

I have had a W1 for a few months now and can tell you that the king comforter (poly) would not fit. I have tried to wash a queen comforter and would not do it again, it's just too big. I did give it my all, I tried to use the drain/spin cycle after the comforter was completely wet to try and get some of the air out of the filling. In the end I decided it just doesn't have the capacity to move in the drum. As for the rest of my normal laundry it has been a champ. I recently wash 4 large bath towels, 4 kitchen towels, a few white undershirts and 4 pairs of socks on the extra white cycle with outstanding results. The long cycle times do add up but with a larger capacity you may be able to consolidate the loads. As far as the wool, I would trust any fabric to the Miele and many machines now have a hand wash function. I know the new LG machines even allow you to download specific cycles for different wash loads and also has notifications to their app. You choose what you feel would be the best for your family, take care of the machine and it should last. One last thing, do not feel the need to get the matching dryer for any set unless a mismatched set would really bother you. I would rather get the washer I wanted and a less expensive dryer than settle for a washer that you're not happy with. Long post that repeats others advise but I wanted to share my thoughts.
