    What region and zone do you live in? Do you have privacy issues that you want to deal with? How active a gardener are you looking to be?

    One piece of advice I would offer is not to plant close to the foundation. It can cause water problems and it becomes a place close to the house where rodents next and hide.

    @houssaon I live in TN. I like the idea of having privacy from my next door neighbor to my right. The one to the left is very private. I have a green thumb the inside of my home looks like a safari lol

    What are you expecting to get help with ... hardscape? ... planting? What benefits are you expecting to get out of landscape renovations? Do you need to incorporate specific amenities?

    Pictures are from too far away and off center. It works better if the camera is no more than half the house length distance from the facade and is in line with the center of the subject portion of the house (excluding most of drive and right of it.) Then take slightly overlapping shots that include surroundings at ends of house as part of the background.

    This is all I have at the moment. To the left of the patio I wanted to add a walkway. But this give you another view.

    Nothing specific just really want to keep a modern look. The only thing needing to add is a walkway and would like an area for fire pit.

    Does "nothing specific" include planting? If it does, would it be foundation planting or something else?

    By "left of patio" do you mean according to the latest picture?

    Patio seems only big enough for two people to smoke cigarettes and not much else. Are there thoughts about expanding it in the future, such as for a place to BBQ and eat outdoors?

    There seems to be a paved area near near the the carport & single door? Can you confirm and explain what it is?

    The left of the patio from the most recent picture I want a walkway to the driveway. The patio is pretty small I was eventually wanting to add a fireplace of some sort to it. Also bench seating and get rid of the chairs and table that is there now. The paved area near the carport is were my thrash cams go

    I think you need to fine tune your ideas more. A fire pit and fireplace are used differently, are different sizes, and have different requirements and effects. You also need to answer some of the aforementioned questions.

    Is the top of your current patio level with your back porch or pavement beneath the carport?

    You have a gentle slope in your back yard between the driveway/carport and your existing patio; therefore, in lieu of just a walkway, you might consider creating a larger patio in a flat area above a retaining wall (short -- of modest height) as a part of beginning to creating a larger patio that extends from the left side of the existing patio to the carport.

    Dig out the grass and dirt in the corner where that back porch and your driveway meet and pour a new slab alongside the porch and alongside the pavement of the driveway that has its top level with the top of the existing patio which, it appears from your pic, should be level with the pavement beneath the carport and a step down from your back porch.

    From that new slab outline your driveway with a parallel row of pavers about a foot apart -- one against the pavement of the driveway and the other a foot away to create a planting area for an attractive low growing plant as an outline beside that. Initially you could create this outline and planting area only out as far as the tree ... to be finished all the way to the road later.

    Using 2" thick patio blocks, create a sidewalk between the front of the existing patio and the front of the new slab parallel to the back porch. With the tops of these patio blocks ground level, you can space them and leave grass or ground cover grow between them and the area between them and the house would define a planting area for some combination of shrubs, bulbs, flower pots.

    Create a level terrace above the existing patio. Create a small very short/height wall against the left side of the existing patio and continue building it in a line toward the driveway, extending as far beyond the outer edge of the existing patio as you would like for your new patio to eventually extend, creating a corner in the retaining wall so the path of the wall turns toward the carport and continues until the blocks, with their tops the same height as the existing patio, cease to have their sides visible. This should occur before reaching the carport/driveway.

    Plant a row of shrubs outside/below that short retaining wall to encircle the area you choose for your your enlarged patio to be. Outside the wall/patio, focus on getting your lawn to be as green/healthy as it can possibly be.

    You now have an outline of a new backyard patio for you to decide what, within your budget, you can include in it.

    On a tight budget, I'd recommend that

    ... you first watch several You Tub vids on the correct way to build a patio and/or sidewalk;

    ... you plan your patio to be built in stages ... no all at once;

    ... you initially focus on deciding what part of the patio you want to be paver/concrete/cement and which part you want to be "green";

    ... you choose a free standing fire pit and BBQ grill rather than trying to build in either one;

    ... you consider finding the most practical way to add some solar lights to your patio -- perhaps on 4"x4"x6' ?(movable?) treated posts that also have brackets for hanging baskets (do balance the weight of the hanging baskets); INote: four short (about 16" long) treated boards can create a stand for your post and keep it movable.)

    ... you include a bird bath somewhere in your yard visible from the patio.
