I wouldn't want to call attention to a storage room by mis-matching the door to the rest of the doors in the home.

Does it need to be a barn door? Why not do a double door instead?

Can’t do regular door because can’t push in (or pull out...not enough room). Installed shelving...

Pocket door would work but too expensive.....was hoping to add a little interest in an otherwise boring room.....😊

You could also paint it a couple shades darker than wall, but I wouldn’t paint it the exact same color.

I love a beautiful barn door! I went with recommendation from designer to paint it white and I've found that the structure of the door still looks awesome to me even though I am not calling it out with a color.

We have a colored paint barn door in our master bedroom that's kind of like your mock-up, if you want to visualize.

I’m in this same dilemma... our walls are green, and adding the door to close of the master bathroom. I love the natural door look and have learned to not paint real wood. But the other door and trim is white and not sure if I want to mix it up.
