Bathroom/washing and plants design

Hey,

Our carpenter has built for as an open closet for our washing machine (inside the shower room). The door of this room is straight on the right side of the picture. I'm not super the happy with the results, I know the material is really not stunning :/ Unfortunatley we cannot really continue the blue tiles into the washing machine closet niche, so there is a blank wall as you can see.

I'm thinking of placing a plant in that area (marked in green circle), don't know if it should be placed on another small (wooden?) shelf there or it will create even more mess.

Or maybe instead of installing another small shelf for the plant, I should use a rope plant hanger (hanged maybe even a bit upper than the green circle zone)?

I'm thinking of placing 1 or 2 cool straw baskets on the counter (yellow circles) as well.

Any ideas of how to improve this somewhat faulty corner would be highly appreciated - plants (types?), shelfs, pictures etc.

it's also a bathroom so it's possible several people might see it several times a day. besides, even if it's only one person looking at it, it's still clearly important to them to make the space look nice.

arrrfow - try a small wall mounted plant where your green circle is. like an airplant or tiny fern. you don't want anything sticking out too much or you might always brush up against it when toweling off after a shower. as for where the yellow circles are -- small baskets tucked back. leave plenty of blank workspace like others suggested above. a few pieces of decor for the little shelf above. (maybe nice jars that store cotton balls and stuff?)

this bathroom appears newly done. once you have all your other stuff in there, live with it for a while. you might wind up liking the cabinet as-is. I personally think it looks great.

I'd recommend a modern feel for the accessories, which would go with the style of that cabinet and wall tile.

Get a remnant white solid surface for the top, paint the entire !!! thing satin finish version of your wall color, , remove the shelf, and hang a pretty picture. Put some hardware on the doors above and call it a day. A basket to fill the open shelf space below the cabinet. DONE. Don't junk it up. Go to the paint store, and go look for a print you like, that fits the "back splash .

Plant (with soil) + clean laundry = possible need to rewash items. just saying since I'm a bit of a klutz. : )

why not put a few small potted plants on the shelf? maybe hang a nice piece of art on that side wall,

or even paint the wall the same blue as the tiles. or, try peel and stick wallpaper

Once you get you baskets and stuff in there, it will look different.

or, what if you did a larger shelf, and maybe did an L shape so that it continues onto the left wall?

Doing a solid white top (although your wood looks perfectly cut to fit there)

Maybe do a little basket hung on the wall, larger shelf?

If those cabinets around the washer were white it would blend in so much better

What else is going on in that room? Is there other wood cabinetry?

I like the wood cabinets, very modern. you might feel differently once you have all of your decor in. if you think they look too stark and modern, add handles to the doors.

I like the idea of a small frame that relates to laundry. I would keep the top of the washing machine empty. This could be a useful surface to place your wet clothes in the process of going to the dryer (or for something else).

Also, I would put rolled towels in the opened shelves right below the cabinet. If you want, you can place a long narrow straw basket on the shallow shelve.

Just do it. One plant, two baskets. Like it? Keep it. Don't like it? Throw it out.

This is a 60-second task. And it's just a laundry. No one will ever see it but you. You could be done in no time.

yes it’s also a bathroom (toilet and shower) and the cabinet under the sink is the same wooden material as this laundry closet. I’ll try few things and update with some photos later
