That is a good question. We used Hot Rolled Steel for this particular project. We installed with flush-head screws and wiped with a Penetrol clear finish oil. Hot Rolled Steel in it's natural state arrives with "mill scale" that gives it natural patina. Cold Rolled is more "silvery" in color and typically would need color enhancement to achieve this look.
