One of my best friends asked me to do a set for her mom, as a Christmas gift. I normally don’t do all matching, but that’s what she wanted. I had to send it to another state, luckily it all arrived fine! We consulted back and forth via texts to design these. Her mom likes colorful and rustic.

I love the octopus charm. The cool blue beads were in the sale bin at my fav bead store in Ft Worth. Actually, it’s the only bead store in Ft Worth. 😆

I’d just gotten my roadrunner watercolor framed, so staged it with some pieces.

OmiGOSH, Jinx! I knew that you and the Mr. were special and lovely people, so it comes as absolutely no surprise to see the manifestations of the artistic and creative spirits you both possess. Each and every one of these pieces are absolutely WONDERFUL, and I'm so very glad you shared them with us! Your beaded ornaments are amazing, and I can just envision them on a holiday tree -- or even filling a pretty glass bowl on a holiday dining table. As for the jewelry -- well, I would wear every single piece you've made and would have a very hard time choosing a favorite! I should've known you would use a good deal of turquoise and earthy tones in your pieces; those are among the BEST colors to wear in my opinion, and seems to speak to your southern/southwestern and outdoorsy nature. Your knack for crafting such beautiful symmetry with a tremendous amount of interest is well evident. Seriously. I just love everything!

And your displays are amazing as well, as has been noted upthread. When I was on Instagram, I followed a number of "whoopdie-do" big-time jewelers in and around the Santa Fe scene, and your displays are every bit as good, if not better, as theirs were. I think you have a real gift for this, and hope you will continue to find inspiration and success with all you do! Where are you selling your work? Do you have an Etsy store?

As to your DH's models, well, I am well and truly blown away! I have never seen anything like that before, and cannot imagine the patience and gentle care it must take to turn a sheet of "parts" into such intricate and beautiful works of art. Wow! They are absolutely amazing!

No, no selling yet. I just don’t feel the pieces are worthy to put on the market. I’m still perfecting my techniques and then I have to figure out how websites work. What I wish is that I could just do the designs, and sell them to some boutique or something, then they could sell them however they want. I don’t want to deal with customers anymore ... I have my whole life. Lol! 😄

Another bad mind-set I have is not wanting to repeat designs. I have so many ideas coming out, it frustrates me ... the monotony if I have to do the same ones. I wasn’t selling my snowflakes, but had so many people wanting similar ones, so I was knocking them out every day. I just want to move on and get my new ideas going. Does that make sense? It sounds weird, I know!

Speaking of Instagram, I used a hashtag one day, a common word to describe a piece I made with beads my best friend had given me for my birthday. Well, this established jewelry store in a major city with celebrity clientele (not a chain) messaged me saying I couldn’t use that hashtag, it was theirs, etc. Threatened me with legal action, and just went on and on with such rude and unprofessional writing. I messaged back that a common word used as a hashtag is not trademarked and if they ever contacted me again, I’d report them. I told them how pathetic it was for a big store to bully a hobbyist, that my items weren’t for sale, and I was certainly not business competition.

Next day, as I was going to block their account, I saw that they’d staged a necklace that very morning EXACTLY like one I’d posted earlier that week. I mean, it was nearly identical with very specific items! I couldn’t believe it. I screenshot it and would love to show y’all, but they’re too unstable and paranoid. I blocked them and moved on. But I did post it on my private FB page and my friends were stunned at how alike the pictures were, down to the unique decorative items around the necklace.

Well, they look MORE than market-worthy to me, but I do understand the feeling of one's own creations being "not quite" where we want them to be. But I seriously don't think anyone else would see ANY imperfections in what you've made; in fact, the handmade quality is one of the thing that is so very appealing! It's been ages since I've been out and about at the little boutique-y shops; the only place I can think of that had a few cases of cool handmade jewelry was Earth Bones in Sundance Square, but there have just got to be other places that would love to work a deal with you to sell your pieces. I think that's a great idea, although I do love Etsy too and have bought a fair amount of jewelry there over the years.

@Jilly, I can only repeat what others have said. Even if you don't want to sell your jewelry, you could have a career as a stager and photographer for other sellers' items because your photographs are amazing.

All of my pics are taken with my iPad and then I play around with basic filters on IG. This house has a few spots with really good natural lighting, so that helps a lot! If I ever do a website, I’ll take very bright, plain pictures of everything to show them clearer ... as well as my “moody” shots. :D

All are beautiful and I am positive you could find a local boutique that would love to sell these!!

Jinx - your jewelry is so beautiful and I do so agree with those who are praising your display talent. However, if you ever did decide to open a store online, I am very afraid my personal bank account would be quickly depleted! I saw at least nine pieces I would buy in a heartbeat, if available... Your work is definitely worthy and sale-able.

Love your husband's work also -- I had no idea such a variety of these things were out there. We have given these to our college-age grandson over the past few years -- he likes them a lot. Think we ought to give him a few more from DH's stash, to keep him from going bonkers while he is suffering thru being at home for weeks with his "bratty" siblings, lol.

And I remember the lovely beaded snowflakes you showed us at Christmastime -- loved them, also!

You’re right — those models are a great idea for the kids stuck at home. It amazes me watching DH do them, the pieces are so small he uses tweezers often.

He’s also practicing his guitar playing a lot recently. Don’t tell him I posted this, he thinks he looks awful “Don’t take a picture, I’m wearing my sweats and glasses and haven’t shaved for days!”. 😄

I am blown away! Those are all just gorgeous. And so are the intricate objects your DH makes. I may want one of each, Jinx! Really, some of the more beautiful and interesting pieces of handmade jewelry I have seen in a while. You should have no problem finding a boutique to sell your work. I love the different things you do with necklaces and different lengths of earrings. And the mix of turquoise and earth tones is lovely.

OutsidePlaying, thank you! You would not believe how much jewelry is in this house right now. I have two dresser drawers full of stretch bracelets, a large iron room divider covered in necklaces, and an old iron wall thingie on my bedroom wall covered in earrings! 😂

I was modeling earrings last summer in front of the iron wall thing ... it wasn’t covered here ... now, it is, 100%!

I wore this set (I posted them earlier) to the Peter Frampton concert last year (wore a camisole under it, with jeans and boots) ...

Wowzers! How'd you learn to bead?

Ida, I was aimlessly strolling through Hobby Lobby one day and saw the bead aisle. I’ve always loved beaded, hippy things, as well as jewelry, so just was going to admire them. But then I grabbed a package of wood beads ... then wire ... then a set of tools ... then it was on. :D

My first attempts were BAD BAD BAD. Not the designs, but the technical part. Materials, findings, etc. I didn’t know how to finish pieces. I watched some great videos on doing the clasps, rings, wires, leather, etc.

The design part just comes pouring out. I love putting new combos together. I purposely avoid looking at anyone else’s homemade jewelry. I want my pieces to be 100% my own inspiration and vision, no one else’s influence at all.

Just like with any artistic medium, I go through blocks. Then, all of a sudden, I’ll sit down and make piece after piece for days, not wanting to stop.

We were going nearly every Sat to The Artful Bead in Ft Worth, but can’t for a while, of course. I miss it! I get my materials there, HL, and some online. I have lots of containers, baskets, etc to keep everything.

I see a pile or string of beads, and get to work. :)

I attempted to make a multi strand liquid silver necklace a number of years ago, and had a terrible time trying to figure out how to do the clasp. I was never happy with it, and I think it eventually just got donated with a box of other junk.

I think I have been to the Artful Bead. Is it on Camp Bowie? Oh... NM. I see it's on Trail Lake, so I must be thinking of something else.

It’s very small (Artful Bead), but she carries some beautiful beads. If I could, I’d open a bead store in my town. We need one! Wait, maybe it’s just me that needs one. :D

I’d love to teach you about finishing work! And there a gazillion great videos on YouTube. You have such a great style and design sense, I know you’d do beautiful pieces! I have so much fun just doing pieces for myself for special occasions. :)
