I would make furniture decisions before windows in breakfast area. Then you can tie everything together with panels in kitchen.

Not a fan of valances....I think drapes or sheers would look good....a color that goes with your living room drapes.

Ok so can we see the new sofa, and are you changing the drapes in the living room? If not you might think to do them, all the same, to tie the spaces together, or at least pull a color from th curtains in there to tie to the ones next to it.

I would consider changing the cushion fabric on the cafe table, It seems you have moved into something a little softer, and then if keeping the curtains in the living room pull that sage color into the fabric you pick for the curtains in the adjoining room. Or even if you could get the same ones. If you change all the curtains, then pull from the color of the rug.
