How to clean cabinet doors that are grooved (as opposed to flat-panelled). Also, how to touch up "dings" in said cabinets. I built a home a year ago and didn't have a say in the kitchen cabinet style, only the color. The cupboards already are showing wear from poor-quality wood.

Add on garage bay for storing a boat or recreational vehicle. I included a 30' (L) x 12' (W) x 12' (H) garage bay for boat in addition to a double wide garage. In Florida, millions of people store their boats off site at dry boat marina or public storage. My investment payback was about 5 years compared to what I would pay to store it elsewhere, and it still provides extra garage storage space to de-clutter the main garage area.

While not a design or decorating question- I would like to ask a professional builder or architect these questions: Where to start when considering purchasing a piece of raw land- things to consider and which professionals to hire/consult with and how to assess the building site in collaboration with these pros, BEFORE purchasing. How to go about site evaluation when you haven’t actually purchased the property? I am exploring the possibility of building a home on what is likely to be a challenging site: a bluff top with a gorgeous vista. I certainly would prefer to find out if it’s feasible before I purchase the property and then cannot build or perhaps even resell.

Get in touch with a knowledgeable Realtor that has been through the process. As a Realtor that has built from “scratch” & sold vacant land you’ll need a @contingency upon needed evaluations. Good luck! you can enjoy the process. Kathy B

Can an architect successfully combine two aesthetic designs (modern, traditional, farmhouse, contemporary, French traditional, Tuscan etc.) of a house, using various differing materials such as plaster, steel, wood and brick? And if so, how does one achieve this? And if not, what are the biggest challenges?

Hey was wondering if you could share with me some tips when designing

I am remodeling my condo worked with a professional designer. I want to have an
electric fireplace installed. There is a small wall separating the livingroom and kitchen area. She suggested I extend the wall and use it for the fireplace and the tv above it. I think extending the wall is a great idea as it will allow additional space for cabinets in the kitchen and the two rooms would still be open. My question is this wall or area is right there as you walk into the house and I have always had an entryway table, etc. HELP!!! I'M not sure what to do but the wall is actually the best wall to make into a TV and fireplace wall due to the small size and layout of the rest of the livingroom. Should I scrap the fireplace install? Love Houzz and the reviews. Thanks for any help or other advice.

I want to do an update to my kitchen and plan on selling between 3-5 years to downsize. I like the layout and would most likely add a couple of cabinets on the other side of the kitchen. But, when I asked about painting existing cabinets the contractor said he wouldn't do it. He didn't say the cabinets were bad, just they don't paint cabinets. Did I ask for something not recommended any longer? What are the suggestions then for upgrading without a whole remodel?

Especially during this quarantine time frame, can a designer virtually view your space and answer questions/give advice? How would that work, what would it cost? I am a DIY'er but often need advice on lighting, color, etc. Sometimes I finish a room and can't figure out why it still isn't working for me, but trained eyes might spot the problem easily.

Timeless trends are such an important component of design to get the most out of a remodel, renovation or build!

I love any articles/ideas of how to update my decor with my existing furniture and accessories. I do not really want to go out and buy a lot of new things. I want to take what I have when possible and give it a fresh look. I also love articles where you see the high end design replicated affordably. And I mean affordable, not purchasing the $800 lamp to replace the $2,000 lamp.

We have downsized and no longer have a place for family photos. What we DO have is a beautiful curved wall that is quite large at the top of the landing. Is there a way to put photos on a curved wall? We are doing this remodel ourselves, my husband has done all of the work so it is taking time to do while working full time and still living our lives! Any help at all would be appreciated. A couple of pictures below to will hopefully give you an idea of the space. Thank you!

I wanted black kitchen cabinets in my brand new house. By the time they were installed and we moved in they already were looking nicked and less than perfect. Now 3 years later they need some TLC. What are some choices/products that might make them look new? I’ve tried paint pens with the paint color but didn’t help. Is this common to all black cabinets?
