Have you checked online at places like Lowe's or Home Depot or hardware stores for narrow pipe either metal or pvc.?

Color of pipe doesn't matter as you can spray paint it whatever color you want.

Yes, I’ve checked, but everyone seems to carry the basic 1” pole. When we’re allowed to go shopping in person, I’m going to try the local hardware store. Sometimes those guys have the answer. I didn’t think of pvc. Maybe they come in less than 1” diameter.

the chateau was the only thing I brought to the new house. I remember when my husband put it up, it was a miserable cold, day. I “directed” from the kitchen window. DH kept motioning that the bluebirds would never come near it because I wanted it close (10‘) to the house. He no sooner had it up and got to the back porch, and I had a bluebird perched on top. The bird must have been watching.

mr1010. - thank you! I just googled pvc pipe and apparently they have one that’s 0.840 in. Seems like that should fit. Can’t wait to drag my birdhouse to Home Depot.

Just thought of another source for the pole. The metal rods used in pouring concrete to prevent cracking. Would be much stronger than pvc.

I think maybe 30 inches or so depending on how deeply I can get it into the ground. The first picture shows the pole part attached to the house. Do you see how it tapers in to less than an inch? The second picture shows regular pole piece that also tapers but not as much to fit into the bluebird pole. Thank you both for the suggestion. I’m sure one of those will fit.

Both Lowes and Depot have a section in the stores that has various lengths of galvanized pipe and black pipe in .75 inch diameter. You could try wrapping the part the inserts the bird house with duct tape to make it snug.
