Hi Suzanne Zone 10b! I have planted all the flowers but the bacopas in my garden, and they are all lovely, but like you mentioned it can be difficult to find them in shell pink. A flower that I would recommend that is easy to find in light pink is creeping phlox:

It comes in all different shades of pink and is available online or at most garden centers. I hope this helps!

Some of the Lampranthus sp. would work.

I'm pretty sure creeping phlox would turn up its toes pretty fast in a 10b!! It does in my zone and I don't get anywhere that hot and dry. And I'm not sure how many of the plants under consideration/listed are actual groundcovers. Do they need to hold up to foot traffic? And blooming "most of the year" is a bit optimistic as well :-)

The creeping thyme is an excellent choice and there are a variety of cultivars that will offer that coloring.....'Pink Chintz'and 'Magic Carpet' are a couple of choices. I'd also consider Dianthus 'Bath's Pink' or Sedum spurium 'John Creech' or Polygonum capitatum. And the hardy geraniums (cranesbill) G. sanguineum 'Striatum' or 'Elke' and Geranium riversleaianum 'Mavis Simpson'.

They sell creeping phlox at the garden centers here in zone 9b, and we get summer temps in the 90s, sometimes even in the 100s in August. I did some research and I read that it grows in zones 3b through 10 and is a drought tolerant plant once established. I haven't grown it myself, (although I would like to, no more room in the garden though : ( ), so I can't say for sure though. Creeping thyme sounds like an excellent option for sure. I have some thyme and it stands up well to the summer heat. Same goes for dianthus, they look spectacular in the summer, they're just covered in blooms. I like the smell of them too. It's hard to describe; it's almost like a dusty sweetness.

Ooh, I was worried if creeping thyme or dianthus could take the heat but I'm glad for the reassurance! No foot traffic, I just like looking upon a light pink carpet of flowers, especially if they're fragrant ^_^ I like dianthus, was worried about it taking heat but I love the smell

Lampranthus this week

I bought a dianthus Constant Beauty Pink as well as Flower Carpet Appleblossom even tho I only have room for none haha~ here's hoping they survive the summer heat!

Oooh, they are excellent choices! I've seen some of the flower carpet roses and they are stunning!
