Secluded Retreat · More Info

The rooms in our homes may have become multi-purpose during the coronavirus pandemic, as more people shelter-in-place. For those of you who are squeezing in fitness at home, where do you work out?

I have a home gym but it has now been squeezed to one side to accommodate our 4 yr old granddaughter as a bedroom. I’ve had to change my habits to only walking outdoors.

Houses in Europe aren't that big to have a gym so I'm glad we are allowed to go out. We take a long walk every day and while brushing my teeth or cooking I do exercises. And I try to avoid sitting too much.

House is too small for a dedicated gym. But a large 12' X 9' Oriental Rug with nothing encroaching on it is where mats etc are laid out for floor exercises. But each day a 3-4 mile walk does the exercise in the the world's best gym...nature.

We have a tredmill stationary bike and elliptical and weights in our garage.

I have a Pilates mat, a few light hand weights, a foam roller, and a lacrosse ball (for deep tissue massage) that I use in my family (living) room. But I also like to walk a few miles in my lovely neighborhood when the weather is nice, and I’ve also been doing a lot of intense flower gardening and yard work during this covid lockdown.

I have a big guest room upstairs which also doubles as my craft room and exercise room. I don't have gym equipment, a couple of exercise videos and I teach an hour Bonebuilders class twice a week. During good weather I walk about two blocks to teach my class and my husband and I are also cemetery caretakers which involves a lot of walking and outdoor time. We also have a large garden and I have many flower beds to keep me busy. We live in a very small town and can walk everywhere we need to go. We get a lot of exercise in the warm weather, not so much in the winter.

We have a small set up in a spare bedroom: rug, mat, handweights, spiky balls, stretch bands (and hubby's stereo system). . Most of our exercise routines involve stretching, bending and tai chi so no big treadmills or bikes. We're allowed out of the house to exercise so we do walks for the aerobic factor. Looking forward to getting back to hydrotherapy, though.

I have 50 acres and while I've been a bit too down to do as much working out as I should - I CAN work out outdoors. By doing gardening and homesteading and other related tasks, as needed. Just being active should do the physical component enough.

There's nothing like the great outdoors for walks and jogs! I walk and jog and I'm 67 years young! Our lane is just beautiful

We lost access to our gym so hubby and I work out at home for the time being. A neighbor gave us his treadmill that was being used as a rack, that's set up in the garage.

I hauled out my old exercise DVD's and VHS tapes I used years ago, Gilad Janclowicz from Bodies in Motion and a Total Body Sculpt that used to be on cable. I do these in our master bedroom and close the doors to keep our boxer dogs out. (If I didn't the floor segments would never get done........). These tapes and DVDs are 15-20 years old but seem to be doing the job. I'm just a tad slower....😆

We've kitted out a section in our mostly unfinished basement. Has a dance floor, a ballet barre, and other stuff. I spend about an hour in there every day. But walking and gardening are still faves.

We have a simple gym in the basement with ballet barre and mirror, several free weights and bench, jump rope, elastic cords, bosu ball—nothing complicated or expensive. And a TV monitor so I can stream videos. Now, ask me if I use it? Not often, but I know I should. I wish I had that ‘love of exercise’ DNA but I just don’t. )-:

I live in a tiny house. I put up my queen Murphy bed to access space for the yoga mats.

we have a small multi-purpose room that serves as a gym with my treadmill which can be folded up and pushed to the corner, small TV with DVD player for workout videos, an office with printer, bookcase and two filing cabinets, extra storage, 3rd bedroom when needed with a wall bed that stays tucked away most of the time.

Where we work is also where we work out. Our office is doubling as a workout room for Zoom yoga. When the weather gets warmer (we are in Chicago - it snowed twice so far this April!) we will move out to our rooftop deck.

This is where we do it! It's in the basement (you can still see the basement is a work in progress).
