They don't look very good :-(

This is one of my preferred ornamental grasses and I grow it myself and use it frequently in designs. The coloring and evergreen presence is hard to beat!

I think this is most likely a watering issue. Orange sedge likes a consistently moist soil and will brown out rapidly if exposed to much drought or dryness. But it also does not care for very wet soils in winter, so you are walking a fine line. Details on your drip watering regime may be helpful.

Also not very happy in much shade.

No they don't look great indeed. I am wondering if it is at all recoverable. We are dripping for 10 minutes at 1am everyday with our Rachio controller. Should we try some fertilizer?

Daily watering is probably excessive and especially over winter. Nothing needs irrigation that frequently! It would be better to have run the drip for a longer period of time but far less often, no more than twice a week during the hot weather/growing season and probably not at all in winter as soil moisture evaporation at that time of year is almost non-existent. A slightly damper climate but I water mine - in containers - maybe once a week, if that, during the growing season and not at all from October to May.

I might dig up the most obviously dried up or dead one (no sign of green) and examine the roots. If soft, mushy or discolored, I would not hold out much hope.

If you decide to give them longer, cut them back to just a couple of inches. The tannish-brown blades are dead. They will not recolor or ever look vibrant so go ahead and get rid of them. Any new growth will come from the root crown.

Also, fertilizer is not a medicine. It will not make a sick plant or one growing under unfavorable conditions better :-) In fact, fertilizing a plant that is already under stress can just add to the problems. Ornamental grasses seldom require fertilizing anyway..
